KB2821895 Windows 8 x64 Update 06.11.2013 problem

After this update “sfc /scannow” gets stuck at 100% for about 6-7 minutes, and afterwards reports that there are corrupted files that it cannot fix and asks for reboot.

The situation with “sfc/scannow” repeats after restart. I checked it with three different machines. There are a lot of errors in CBS.log file.

We’re aware of an issue impacting some Windows 8 customers trying to run the sfc /scannow command after installing KB2821895, where customers using the System File Checker receive an error message that there are corrupt files and that the system requires a restart to repair the files. 

To work around this issue:

·         Open an elevated command window

·         Run the command dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, and wait for this command to complete.

·         Run the sfc /scannow command again until the command completes and reports that there is no corruption. If you still get an error that there is corruption, you should contact technical support for further assistance as your system may have actual corruption.

    I asked a very simple question.  Should I uninstall KB2821895.  Why have I not received a direct response???

    This update is a very common, very serious problem.  SFC /SCANNOW finding corrupt files cannot be ignored.

    I don't understand how this update is still available on windows update.

    It's clear that it cause issues. . .

    As stated at the start of this thread,

    "some" some is the users that have the 'know how' to troubleshoot and found them self here, who knows how many others that has absolutely no clue what's happening to there system/windows. These poor souls probably have to spend there hard earned money on Microsoft support, I really hope that MS does not charge when there technician finds whats cased the issue.

    I have been running a system without doing any DISM repair.  So far, it appears Windows Updates are not effected as are none of the applications I run.  The only time the problem seems to show up is when the SFC is run.

    I believe some of the updates we are seeing is to prepare a Windows 8 install for the 8.1 update.  KB2821895 and a couple since were probably for this reason and the 8.1 update, that comes out around the end of August, might solve the problem.
