KB2821895 Windows 8 x64 Update 06.11.2013 problem

After this update “sfc /scannow” gets stuck at 100% for about 6-7 minutes, and afterwards reports that there are corrupted files that it cannot fix and asks for reboot.

The situation with “sfc/scannow” repeats after restart. I checked it with three different machines. There are a lot of errors in CBS.log file.

We’re aware of an issue impacting some Windows 8 customers trying to run the sfc /scannow command after installing KB2821895, where customers using the System File Checker receive an error message that there are corrupt files and that the system requires a restart to repair the files. 

To work around this issue:

·         Open an elevated command window

·         Run the command dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, and wait for this command to complete.

·         Run the sfc /scannow command again until the command completes and reports that there is no corruption. If you still get an error that there is corruption, you should contact technical support for further assistance as your system may have actual corruption.

    hi, 

    thanks for the reply guys ... currently im having my drives analized by a couple of guys for my IT department ...it will be a few days b4 I get them back.  ill go ahead and do a clean install and try to get it resolved.  i removing all possibilities or causes .. from ssd's to improper internet connections.  cfos program that came with my gigabyte up5 th mobo ...some say could be the culprit ..well in a few days well see what happens. lol thanks again blackkatt911 if issue resumes ill contact via Skype.

    OK! so I feel you're frustration, I've been there a couple of times myself. So I know how it feels. That's why I will personally try to help you solve this.     Hi There People - Had the exact same problem with this update; was racking my brains and did multiple

    clean installs onto my SSD before finding this issue online.

    I suspect quite a few of you did the ol' piece by piece re-install with sfc /scannnow runs between each one to narrow down what was causing the corruption (I did about 20 sfc runs lol).

    Ran the DISM scan and restorehealth command to what seems like good effect.. (although the scan showed no corruption... then the restorehealth stated clearly it repaired corruption.. weird.

    No it all seems to be working well, but really it's not good enough.  I really want to love Windows 8, but dang.. it's making it hard work!!

    Thanks for the help everyone, hopefully it's clear skies from here on out (or close enough) :)

    lol im just laughing because I am confused.  no but yes Samsungs data magician is a secure wipe process that has to be done standalone not thur windows.  well no my problem didn't start with Norton.  it was the windows update that was giving me a head ache.  heres my story .. two days ago I recently updated to windows 8. I had it on my 128gb ssd.  after installation I wanted to utilize my cases hotswap bay ..corsair 800d.  so I formatted my 128 and grabbed 4 more ssds (total of 3x Samsung 840pro 128gb and 1x 500gb) I do a lot of video editing if you want to know. but anyways I then reinstalled windows 8 to a new 500gb ssd.  well after installation was done, I wanted to do a full update. on all of windows goodies.  well I started having issues with a windows update.  out of I think 30some updates only 4 updates wont go thru.  kb2821895 was one of them.  thinking I was just a MS issue. I decide to wait it out.  so onto other updates.  windows defender was irrelevant because I had NORTON 360 so ..I tried to update its definition.  wouldn't do it.  tried a couple of more times wouldn't work so I contacted Norton. they insisted for me to do a clean uninstall and reinstall.  I did so.  and same issue.  thinking it was a bug between Norton and windows defender.  got rid of Norton and went with defender until issue is resolved. well windows defender had a windows update too. its definition update. well thur windows update I tried over and over and over but the virus definition wouldn't update and say "signature is corrupt or invalid.  so I did what I thought was best.  fresh install of windows thinking something must of went wrong during installation.   thinking it was the new addition of ssd's I secure wipe them all one by one.  making sure nothing there was the issue.  installed on the 500gb and same issues kept popping up.  fresh installed it again this time via HDD because I thought it was ssd issue. so I did that and same updates kept hanging during download.  now I was confused ..thinking now that there was a virus swimming around my system not allowing me to update virus definitions.  then I started looking to forums on issues with updates.  thinking it couldn't be a virus cause I clean wipe them ..impossible for it to still be on my drives..well this is the part where I say ...after a much pain staking 2days of rinse and repeat steps.. my search for an answer has lead me here and thus ...yes I haven't installed the "update" in the question here before hand because im unable to download it successfully... ive tried the restorehealth vis commandprompt etc etc.  nothing helped.  so im looking to MS community for some answers or pointers to help me understand my issue with windows 8.  sorry for the long reply im just stuck like chuck.  and any help would be appreciate it.
