During windows 8 reset all my Apps were removed, how do I restore them?

Install them again.

What you did was this wipe it and start from the beginning.

Remove everything and reinstall Windows

If you want to recycle your PC, give it away, or just start over, you can reset it completely.

Note

  • You might be prompted to insert discs or recovery media that came with your PC. Check the info that came with your PC to see if your PC manufacturer provided these discs or media. In some cases, you might have created them when you first set up your PC.

Warning

  • All of your personal files will be deleted and your settings will be reset. Any apps the came with your PC will be reinstalled, but all other apps will be removed.

To reset your PC

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.) 2. Under PC settings, tap or click General. 3. Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get started. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Note - You'll be prompted to choose whether you want to erase data quickly or thoroughly. If you choose to erase data quickly, some data might be recoverable using special software. If you choose to erase data thoroughly, this will take longer but it makes recovering data far less likely.

    ... why would restarting (rebooting, powering off and on...) your PC do anything other than ... restarting the PC?  Unless you told it to do something else and the restart is the first step?

    Or did you misspeak and you meant to say that you reset your Windows OS and expected everything to come back to how it was before (although it tells you that only certain apps will come back after a reset, the rest will have to be installed just like they were originally - manually by yourself or someone else)?

    From a Microsoft page explaining the RESET function... ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options  ) - similar for Windows 8/8.1 as 10, with a few exceptions of course (mainly version numbers).

    Reset your PC

    Resetting lets you choose whether to keep your files or remove them, and then reinstalls Windows. To get started, go to Settings > Update & security > Reset this PC > Get started and choose an option.

    Note

    If you can't open Settings, you can get to reset by restarting your PC from the sign-in screen. Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key  +L to get to the sign-in screen, then hold the Shift key down while you select Power  > Restart in the lower-right corner of the screen. After your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.

    If you can't get to the sign-in screen, use a recovery drive or installation media to reset your PC.

    If you reset your PC within a month of your upgrade to Windows 10, the option in Settings that lets you go back to your previous version of Windows will no longer be available.
