the MTP USB Device driver doesn't install. I cannot connect external devices such as the Samsung Galaxy. I tried multiple uninstall and re-install, no solution

i tried many of the ways suggested in many forums, nothing worked. actually when i forst connected te Galaxy it worked for a few days, then it stopped. My company ha installed on my PC System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection; however it was there even when i was able to connect.  i tird also the ipad and i get the same error.

the solution offered to my previous request on the same issue by Rob Thomas596 strictly refers to Apple products and i can't use it for the Galaxy

Run command prompt as administrator and run the following command:

net localgroup Administrators local service /add

That is what fixed my problem after searching everywhere

    What you find here, may also be relevant. For me though, it still didn't help solve the problem, and who knows, maybe Microsoft may decide to step in and help here. After all, what was that statement they made at the start?

    It worked for me.

    I have had the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy SIII for several months now.  I tried your solution and everything was clear as day until I couldn't find the string value called UpperFilters to delete it.  Should I assume these mean that string value is not the problem?  If so, I'm baffled because my problem is the same as the original poster.

      "HERE’s THE SOLUTION:

    1. Go to the Registry Editor (Start –> Run –>type in, “regedit” (without the quotes) then click OK.
    2. Search the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\
    3. Go upto Edit>Find, type in or copy/paste Portable Devices
    4. In the right hand pane you will see the (Default) value “Portable Devices” on the string
    5. Once found, you see a string value called UpperFilters –> delete it!
    6. Finished!
    7. Now your Samsung Mobile MTP Device should be recognized and even installed correctly right away.
    8. Goto Device Manager open Universal Serial Bus controllers and you should see “Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device”

    Nope, didn't see any "Upper Filters". :-(

    I'm totally stuck, I can't connect the phone, nor can I install the driver.
