Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

    Hello,

    I'm experiencing the same problem. My camera seems to be set to always focus on the farthest setting. Even when I change focus in the manueal setting, nothing happens. Set on the closest manual focus I have perfect focus on things over 100 meters away, and totally blurry in the closest 30 centimetres

    I had chosen the nokia lumia 1020 as my upgrade phone last month, and i absolutely ADORED the camera on it, but then this same thing started happening to me with the focus...

    luckily i was within my 30 days so they sent me another phone.. but apparently this is actually a refurbished one? and now it wont stop freezing! i tried powering it off and it has been frozen for the past 2 hours! anyone having this problem lately?

    I have the exact problem with the quick preview was sharp but when I enter the edit, it just turns blurry. Worst thing is my battery life, the phone just couldn't last for more than 10 hours with minimal usage. I'm so frustrated with always want to monitoring on the battery percentage. Very very disappointed with this 1020. I switch from android and get bad experience. :(

    As I have posted above, my 1020 would neither focus at a close distance nor keep a focus after pressing the 'shutter' button.  I decided to bring it my ATT wireless care center.  They concluded (after reflashing the phone) that it was defective.  I received a new 1020 yesteday.  Restored the phone with my settings and apps and tested it---works flawlessly!!  Used the new camscanner app and was able to focus to the 15cm distance mentioned elsewhere in the posts.  I wish it were otherwise, but this seems to be the safest course to fix the problem--partiuclarly since everyone should still be under warranty.
