Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

    Same problem here. I've had it since day 1 and just assumed I was doing something wrong, but after about a year and a half of exhaustively pouring over every guide I could find and an embarrassing incident in which my sister was snapping WAY better photos than I was from the front row of a concert (remember the commercial where those people tricked their friends into thinking they had better seats at a concert than they did because their zoom was so great?) with her iPhone 4.

    I've scanned this whole thread and not seen anything that will help (troubleshooting guide is useless). Anyone here know anything I don't? Like the rest of you, I payed out the nose for the thing not for the phone itself but because photos are so important to me and am gutted to see it can't even do that right...

    Up until recently, my Lumina 1020 has worked well.  Though it can not do macro, the photos are amazing. Living in Alaska one can imagine the breathtaking photos I have taken.  However today, I attempted to take a distance photo of a rainbow 2 miles away using zoom.  As described by many, it begins focus  captures the focus for a moment, then shoots when unfocused.  I have tried manual focus, using other camera apps that have slide focus but with no luck.  even the attached photo is not as clear as it should be.  The camera is 2 years old.  it took 20 shoots to get one just acceptable.  any ideas, any tests I can do

    Hi,

    I am facing the same issue. Lumia 1020 was clicking amazing pictures for nearly a month & now it would just not hold the focus. What is the solution?

    Craig, I have had my phone with no problems for a year.And just now have started having issues with my camera not holding a focus. Can you please help me? I love my phone, and don't want to have to get a new one!
