Messaging App in Windows 8 showing duplicate outgoing messages

Lately, the messaging app in Windows 8 has been malfunctioning.  When I send an outgoing message, the original message pops up at the bottom like normal, but it is quickly followed by a duplicate of the same message directly underneath it.  What's going on?

    The Windows 8 Messaging App – connected to Facebook

    When I send a message (to a contact person through Facebook) using the “Windows 8 Messaging App,” the message appears twice on the Windows 8 Messaging App. (as if I sent the message twice).

     This only happens if the contact person has their “Facebook chat” turned ON, (The contact will receive the message on their Facebook Chat and their Facebook Messenger).

    PROBABLY WHY IT SHOWS UP TWICE ON WINDOWS 8 MESSENGER (not sure though)

    If the contact person has their “Facebook Chat” turned OFF, the message that I sent using the Windows 8 Messaging App will appear once. However, if the contact person “responds,” using Facebook Messenger the message does NOT appear in the Windows 8 Messaging App. basically, (I DON’T RECEIVE A MESSAGE, if their “Facebook Chat” is turned OFF).

    There is a problem with the Windows 8 Messaging App if the contact person is sending messages using Facebook Messenger while their Facebook Chat is turned OFF. (I don’t receive the message they sent to me)

    This is super annoying...  Of course the other person will be on line.  It's chat!!  I hope it is fixed soon.  :/

    Sorry... I spoke too soon. I think the person I was talking to was only online via mobile. When I talked to someone on Facebook proper, I got the double posts again 😞.

    I have this problem too for the past two weeks. Every message sent gets duplicated on the app screen. However on IE Facebook chat all is fine. Tried logging out and in again from Facebook account but problem still remains. Some people on this thread said that problem was solved. It isn't yet and is not region related as I was in Portugal and the UK with the same occurrence.
