Can one prevent Antimalware Executable to start hogging CPU for extended periods each time some network adapter gets active?

One of the most annoying habits in Windows 8 is, that the built-in "Antimalware Service Executable" (part of "Windows Defender") starts hogging my device's CPU with 60-70% (and 100% disk) for extended periods EACH AND EVERY time after I wake it up.

I wouldn't mind if it starts doing its business IN THE BACKGROUND but when I wake my device up from standby it's usually to get something done NOW and thus I find it increasingly unacceptable, that the system is always taken over by Window's defender exactly then and for up to several minutes! If I don't find a solution soon to throttle this beast, then I will disable Defender altogether!

What I noticed is, that this process seems to be actually triggered not by the system waking up, but by the network adapter becoming active. And actually, this happens each and every time ANY network adapter gets active! E.g. if my system has NO network connection at all and I plugin the network cable the Antimalware Service Executable starts. When - after it has settled again - I additionally enable Bluetooth then the Antimalware Service Executable starts its hogging business again. And if I then additionally enable the WLAN a few minutes later, it will AGAIN start to consume CPU!

So: can one decouple this? Running a scan ONCE after (re-)starting it is definitely enough, especially if Defender hasn't downloaded any new signatures since the last run! And, second, can one make Defender convince to strictly run in the background ONLY?

    you can see, on the right, at Selected Item

    choose Propertiesafter choose Conditions 

    Uncheck all the boxes is ok

    I've tried everything suggested in this thread on all 3 pages and when I wake my computer up Antimalware Executable Kicks in and everything is slow until it finishes. Between this and Microsoft Search Filter Host, 8.1 isn't worth a **** right out of the box. Why does Microsoft Pull this **** on their Customers, Answer: Microsoft don't give a ****!!!!

    But I found a Cure!!! I Moved my New Girlfriend in with me, And she has a New MAC Pro 4 core.

    And I get to use it if I want. So anything I need to do right now, I use her MAC Pro. It doesn't have any of these problems at all!!!!

    I am now saving my money up, so I can buy 1 for myself!!! I am Tired of Windows altogether. And all the **** that comes with it. This thing is less than 10 inches tall and 7 inches in diameter, and the fan is so quiet you can't hardly hear it run!!! Everything works right out of the box!!! No running around and Playing Microsoft Head games, trying to disable Bill Gates 8.1 Nightmare.

    So the cure here is to get a MAC Pro!!!!! I feel like this windows 8.1 computer is owned by Bill Gates!!!

    It does what he wants and Not What I want, and I paid for it!!!!! Been Ripped off by Microsoft 1 more time.

    I have given Microsoft more than enough chances to get this right since windows 98. The Bus Stops here and I am Getting Off it.

    Right now I am only using my windows computer to check my email, if she is using the MAC Pro. Any Projects that I start now, I use the MAC Pro!!!

    And guess what, It's a Desktop Computer that Actually fits on a Desktop. And it's Made in America!!!!!

    Rest in Peace, Windows 8.1, Your days are Numbered Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sooooo....i found to my disappointment that despite disabling the beasty(follow the instructions to find it), it still takes up 1/6 of operating RAM so that means there are more processes calling on it or it itself cannot be turned off. Whenever I start a application it still runs itself but prob stops as its main processes have been disabled. I will prob run it from time to time on weekly maintenance MANUALLY.However this does appear to more than halve the cpu activity it shows, and it when est network connec to servers it is only a ctive in cpu for a minuscule amount of 2-3s for 18-% before returning to 0%. But I think the leftover application actually might be RTProtection protocols, no idea, some1 verify this.
