The title pretty much sums up my issue. I have never been able to access it since I upgraded, so I'm not sure where something went wrong. I don't really know how to go about fixing this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Ben,

I will certainly help you with this issue.

1.      What happens while you try to access windows store?

2.      Are you getting any error code or error message? If yes, what is the complete error message?

3.      Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?

Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.

**Method 1:**Check if the date, time and time zone are set according to your time and time zone.

Follow these steps to set the date and time:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.

c. Click Change date and time button (To change the time zone click on time zone tab).

d. Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Method 2: Clear the store cache and check.

a. Press "Windows key + R".

b. Type wsreset.exe and click OK.

Method 3: Disable the proxy server and check.

a. Open Internet Explorer ****b. Click Tools and then click Internet Options. ****c. Then click the Connections tab.

d. Then click the LAN Settings button.

e. Then Uncheck the option which reads” Use a proxy server for your LAN” ****f. Click apply and then ok.

Method 4: Perform clean boot and check.

a) Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

b) In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

c) On the ‘General’ tab, click to select the option ‘Selective startup’, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box.

d) On the ‘Services’ tab, click to select the ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ check box, and then click ‘Disable all’.

e) On the ‘Startup’ tab, click ‘**Open Task Manager’.**In the Task Manager window under startup tab, right click on each startup item which are enabled and select ‘**Disable’.**f) Click ‘OK’, and then click Restart.

I would suggest you to follow the step 2 from the following article to determine what is causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the step 3 to reset the computer to start as usual.

Method 5: Download and run the app troubleshooter and check.

If anything in my post is unclear or you have further questions, do not hesitate to let us know. It is our pleasure to be of assistance.

Thank you.

I have also had this problem for a few weeks and tried all the suggestions in the forums.  I then noticed that store broker was using a lot of cpu and found this solution

STORE BROKER (WSHOST.EXE) CONSUME A LARGE AMOUNT OF CPU

by ADMIN on MARCH 30, 2014 in OSUNCATEGORIZEDWINDOWS with 9 COMMENTS

Store Broker (wshost.exe)  is a Microsoft process and should not consume more than 1% of CPU. After installing Windows it consume a low ammount of CPU but after that you install application Store Broker (wshost.exe process) may take a large ammount of CPU, so I will try to give you a trick to solve this problem.

WHY CAUSE STORE BROKER HIGHT CPU USSAGE?

The process look like:

![](http://howtofix.pro/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/store-broker-high-cpu-usage.jpg)

Usually problem is caused by:

  • after installing some applications;
  • maybe Kaspersky Antivirus???

HOW TO FIX HIGH CPU USAGE BY STORE BROKER:

Open Task Manager (CTRL + Shift + ESC) >> Go to Processes tab and then kill StoreandStore Brokersprocesses:

  1. Right-Click on Store process >> End Task;
  2. Right-Click on Store Brokers >> End Task;

Then you have to go to:

C:\Users\(Your User Account)\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_xxxxxxxxxxxxx\LocalState

xxxxxxxxxxxxx = a random string – it is different to another pc;

  1. Rename folder called Cache into CacheOld.
  2. Create an empty folder with name Cache

That’s all. If you want to revert changes just delete Cache and Rename CacheOld into Cache.

CONCLUSIONS:

This method to resolve Store Broker (wshost.exe) high CPU usage will not affect in any way Store or installing and using application from Windows 8 Store.

PS: Tested on windows 8.1 but should work on any other version like Windows 8.

PS2: Credits to google, microsoft forums;

Now my store works fine.

It's something fonts related.

Coincidentally someone else has just claimed that registering actxprxy.dll  is a fix...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/9ba1bd2a-6c5f-4839-bbd7-e5714ce702c0#a59d517c-5059-4cfc-b657-f96fac432cbc

Also claimed that there was a duplicate post here but I couldn't find it (not that that would be conclusive proof that it doesn't exist).

FYI

    Hi Petrinl1, This is a repost of the solution that worked for me. Your description of the Store starting to open and then closing is exactly what I was seeing. I tried numerous fixes prior to this one without any luck. In my case it doesn't seem like it was a corrupted cache like many others have been experiencing. Anyhow, here's the post and let us know if it works for you!

    Hi everyone,

    I've been following this thread since late last year when I became unable to access the Store, and also unable to access any Apps from the Store, following my upgrade to Windows 8.1. Like many here, I have kept current with Windows Updates hoping for a fix direct from Microsoft, created a new account on my laptop trying to workaround this issue, and of course I have searched and searched, trying all kinds of cockamamie things I have found here and elsewhere to try and get Store working again...

    Now, finally, thanks to a link to Luis' blog entry (shown below) posted here by**JDiCiaccio13** on April 2nd I was able to finally get Store working again in seconds! Thank you JDC - and thank you Luis!*

    Please note that the behavior I was seeing matched *exactly* the first three bullets in Luis's post below. Also, please note that if you read the comments on that post you will see that it does not work for everyone

    • at the same time, it is not clear that the people who did not have success were experiencing these vary same behaviors.

    Fix Store App in Windows 8.1

    • Sometimes, after upgrading to Windows 8.1, the Store App may not start.
    • It might still show the number of available updates on the Live Tile.
    • Starting the app may show a progress ring but it may not finish loading.
    • To fix this, run the following in a Command Window (Windows Key + R, then type CMD) to re-register the Store App:

    powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML

    • If you get error 0x8007064A after executing this, it means that the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository*Packages*" does not have SYSTEM as the owner.
    • Change the owner back to SYSTEM as explained here and try again.

    *I am posting the most relevant portion of Luis' blog, with all due respect, as a direct reply to the OP in order to (a) raise visibility of this fix to the board, (b) in order to provide the shortest path to a potential solution for the board, and (c) to preserve this potential solution here in attempt to prevent it from being lost (as has happened before on many other threads) should Luis' blog get moved, edited, censored, deleted, or eaten by my dog.
