Hash mismatch

Does anybody know how to fix this problem? It is related to a Windows 8 64-bit platform and seems to be rather common (see Web results for "Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB" of prncacla.inf*"*).

No apparent malfunctions, but very slow startup, especially the first one at morning.

Below what appears in the CBS.log after multiple sfc /scannow(s) that say it is impossible to repair some damaged files.

I have tried to fix by uninstalling  and re-installing KB2769165, with no result. Any other ideas?

I found something very interesting here:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/26f35def-6f55-4c07-9ba8-73e2d402e6cc

I am going to try the dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth command and see how it goes.

L.E. Actually, there are 2 commands to run:

dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

I will be back with the results.

Very Late Edit:

There is also a tool I found recently that helped me solve this issue in Windows Server 2012 R2.

The above commands didn't work so I ran this tools and it solved the problem. You can download the tool here:

I have been checking this issue through other Microsoft Communities (England, France, Italy). According to many experts the problem is not significant. Moreover, looks like sfc often reports false errors. Both my PCs (1 laptop Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and 1 desktop Windows 8 32-bit with Media Center) report the same "hash mismatch" but don't seem to show any malfunction. No Canon printers installed! I hope that Microsoft will solve this mystery ... sooner or later.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

I suspect I have not beeen clear enough and apologize for my imperfect English.

My question was adressed to repairing the damaged system file as described in the CBS.log.

Due to the slow first startup at morning, I thought that the damaged file might be one of the possible causes.

None of the three suggested methods solved the slow startup.

Better results, instead, by uninstalling the third party antivirus (McAfee) and optimizing the PC with a good "cleaner" (WRC + WDC). I will check what happens in the next mornings.

I have just launched another scannow and found the same results in the CBS.log.

I am not sure whether the corruption of the mentioned file can affect (and how) the PC performance or not, but I would like to know if there is a way to repair it without refreshing.

Since the corrupted file is referred to "Package_86_for_KB2769165", that is an automatic Windows Update, I am a little confused. Mine is a 64-bit platform. Why this update for Package 86?

    Any suggestions?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forums.

From the issue description it looks like you have issues with performance of Windows 8 computer.

I understand it must be frustrating, but rest assured, we are here to help you and guide you in the right direction.

I would really appreciate if you can help me with the following information.

    1.      What is the exact issue are you facing?

    2.      Did you make any changes on the computer prior to this issue?

    3.      Do you receive any error message/code on Windows 8 computer?

If you are facing issues with slow start-up I would suggest you to try these methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1

Run system maintenance troubleshooter and check.

    a) Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.

    b) Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.

    c) Click on System and Security, click on System Maintenance.

    d) Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

**Method 2:**Put the computer in Clean Boot state to see if there is any software conflict as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After performing the troubleshooting steps in clean boot, follow Step 3 from the link to return the computer to Normal startup mode.

    Method 3

    Run Microsoft Online Scanner.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Important: While performing scanning on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when scanning tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.

    Refer to the help article:

    Windows hangs or freezes

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2681286#method11

    Hope it helps.

Keep us posted if you face any issues on windows in future. We will be glad to help you.
