Type 1 font handling messed up by December 11, 2012 update KB2753842

Programs like Quark Xpress and Coreldraw on Windows 7 and XP have their Type 1 font handling broken by this patch. Characters larger than 15 pt. become invisible. Uninstalling the patch removes the problem. We have 330 machines with this problem. Is Microsoft getting ready to release a fix for this?

Why was this bulletin rereleased on December 20, 2012? ****Microsoft rereleased this bulletin to address a known issue in the KB2753842 update related to OpenType Fonts (OTF) not properly rendering in applications after the original update was applied. Customers who have successfully installed the original KB2753842 update are protected from the vulnerability described in CVE-2012-2556. However, customers need to install the rereleased KB2753842 update to resolve the issue with improper OpenType font rendering and to keep the affected binaries up to date.

    I am also having issues with purchased fonts in applications and cannot use them due to the recent Windows update. 

    I hope MS has a fix for this soon.  I'm a graphic designer and need to have access to these fonts asap.

    Yes we just have to wait.

    ..... but just in case you go round sixty machines uninstalling the update, DONT FORGET to go back into Windows Update and "Check for Updates". You should then right click on KB2753842 and hide it. This will mean you wont have to go round 60 machines in 2 days time because it has been installed again!!!

    I'm not sure how to implement your code.

    I'm sorry the "code" can only be understood and applied by software developers who can use it to update their product for their clients and this usually take some time because it requires an official update. 

    If you are a user of a software affected by this problem : there is NOTHING else you can do except uninstall the MS updates.  This should work. If it does not, somehow you still have the updates I think.
