Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

    Hello!

On my Windows 8.1 brand new laptop (2 weeks old) I can copy from one application, then do an alt-tab to another and paste.  But if I first alt-tab to any other app, even without re-doing anything, then re-alt-tab to where I wanted to go first, there's nothing left to paste.  Quite counter-productive as I often have to print-screen from one app, paste into an image editor software, then paste into Word or powerpoint, which means I can't "just open 2 windows" (and the desktop would be a third one).  It also means I can't copy to 2 other apps unless I re-copy before.

    Typical examples:

    • Print-screen from Acrobat reader, paste into Irfan-View
    • Copy from IrfanView, paste to an email (outlook 2010)
    • Copy from IrfanView, paste into Gimp
    • Copy the path from Windows explorer, paste in an email (Outlook 2010)
    • Etc.

For the record: I don't think I have webroot (windows 8 strange search tool returned nothing, neither Windows Explorer search).  Antivirus is ESET Endpoint.

Any help would be more than welcome.  I'm quite technical for a grand-father, but definitely not a top-notch expert!

    Phil

    Hi,

I did the sfc/scannow and it worked perfectly.

    Thanx!

Is this supposed to be a system for everyone to use, or just computer experts?

Don't worry even the experts are having issues!

I totally agree.  Is this supposed to be a system for everyone to use, or just computer experts? And, if everything else works, why would you have to risk losing things that do work, just so Microsoft doesn't need to fix their lame system?

I totally agree.  Has anyone found a solution?  I can only copy/paste once in a blue moon, even though I try the same things.  I'm totally disgusted with Windows 8.
