Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Copy & Paste just started to have problems on my WIN8 PC after 1 year

If I reboot it works for a while, but not long

I don't have webroot installed, tried some other things, not working

If I have to re-install the OS - only Windows "Fix" offered - I will NOT be re-installing Windows

It works within an App -say OpenOffice (no way I'm buying MS products)

But not from one web page to another, which is where I use it the most

If I shut down Firefox & re-open it works again

Ya Think MS would screw around with the ability for this to work in Firefox ???

I am starting to have a problem copying and pasting text in youtub. I never had a problem before?

This fixed my problem. Thanks to Ken for posting it. I've spent hours cussing out MS and Windows8 over the past year and the answer was soooo simple. But until now nobody had mentioned that Webroot could be the cause.

I did have to find more info at the Webroot community because I couldn't find the exact location in the settings that I needed to change. For anyone else who wants to try changing this setting here is what worked for me (Win8, 64bit, Webroot Secure Anywhere Internet Security Plus)

1. Open Webroot as Admin user.
2. Click Identity Protection properties (gear icon).
3. Click Application Protection tab. You should see a list of applications and each is assigned one of three radio buttons: Protect, Allow or Deny.
4. Look for the application that does not allow you to cut/copy/paste. If it's set to "Deny" you won't be able to use cut/copy/paste. I trust my application so I changed that app to "Allow".

I found a couple of other applications I wanted to allow full access and some that I left alone.

There is a topic in Webroot's online help titled "Managing protected applications." You can read up on it so you can make the best decision for yourselves.

New surface pro 8 has this problem too. For such a basic function to not work I think Microsoft needs to highlight or allow opt in to these security measures causing issues. It is not reasonable to have to search the web an try numerous convoluted solutions to what has always been the most basic of operations.
