DPC Watchdog Violation Windows 8 [SOLVED]

Hello!

Time to time I get the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. Moustly when i play games. I use laptop Asus n56vz and SSD OCZ Vector 512 GB . I've tried updating all drivers, BIOS, and SSD Firmware, but i am still getting the error.  I used NOD32 Antivirus i unistalled it but still have this error.

I think the issue can be counted as solved now. No more BSODs after installing NVIDIA driver from laptop vendor ASUS.

    I had this problem and began to look for the answers.  It turned out it was my hotels wifi system!  They had a bridge system with transmitters in each room.  I carry a wireless wifi with me and once I hooked into that the problem ceased.  So before checking all the various solutions I would suggest thinking about what has changed recently in your set up if this begins occurring to you.  It may be as simple as the wifi system you are using.

    Yes I listed firewall there but was not meant as part of Defender itself, but instead running alongside, as part of Windows. Sorry if it sounded confusing. Defender has worked pretty well for me, only yesterday catching four different trojans (trojan clickers and downloaders) immediately as soon as I attached another person's USB stick. In my experience DEfender works as well as AVG et al. if anything, a lot quieter and lighter than the likes of Norton or McAffee.

    Hi GabeBourke,

    Windows Defender is NOT a firewall. That's a separate application in program called Windows Firewall.

    Windows Defender is only an anti-virus and anti-spyware, but it does NOT protect from all malware as other more complte antivirus suites do (such as Avast, Avira or McAfee, to name a few).

    Definitely not the answer for me.

    I am totally up-to-date with Nvidia, I do not have an asus laptop and I was not playing games...

    But I am having constant problems with Mozilla Firefox, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was something not going right there.

    Frankly, Windows 8 is software manure and a BIG step back from Windows 7. Every day something is incompatible with something else.

    Microsoft should be shamefully embarrassed to have released something with so many glitches.

    Again, Win8 is a slimmed down version of Win7 as many processes now operate in the cloud instead of in the processor's cache. This is a good development as it mean the processors have much more resources freed up when compared to Win 7. They run much more efficiently and have longer life spans as a result. Gone are the days when the fan in the laptop would blow at max in order to keep the processor cooled down a bit. When people complain about Win8 it's mainly because they don't want to adapt to change. In this case, change for the better in many respects.
