A HAD SAME PROBLEM TOOK OUT MEMORY CARD ATTACHED TO LAPTOP AND PRESSED VOLUME <DOWN> AND POWER BUTTON AND IT CAME ON
oh my gosh.. been searching for hours.. tried different combination of key presses, timing it differently, charged, discharged pulled out my hair did a dance etc etc.. this finally worked.. one key point is all other sites mentioned a (!) .. could not for the life of me get this to come up for me. finally got the lightening bolt (holding the vol down and power till it vibrated then holding only Vol up). .once i got to this point the directions listed here worked perfect. thank you.
If it worked correctly, it should only be 10-15 minutes. Try it again
Make sure it had a full battery before you start. If it powers off during the reset, it could damage the device irreparably. We recommend charging the device for a few hours before performing the reset.
I had to do this once on my device and it took several attempts for it to work. I'm not sure why, it might have been the timing of pressing the VOLUME UP > VOLUME DOWN > POWER > VOLUME DOWN. It will however be clear that if you do it correctly you will see it reset and start up again. The cogs will still be there but if you go have a cup of coffee, when you come back the device will be off. Turn it on and it will be working .... that is what I did.
i did that and its still stuck on the gears, or how long does it stay on the gears before it resumes to welcome screen?
