Hello

I got a call from a guy with a really heavy Indian accent claiming to be working with Microsoft.

He told me that my computer had multiple problems.

He then told me to hit the Window icon on my keyboard and R (Which is to activate Run)

After that, he told me to type in "www.ammyy.com" and hit enter.

Right when he said that, I got suspicious.

I checked their website and it seemed legit.

I decided to google "AMMYY" and I saw "AMMYY scam"

I checked lots of posts having the EXACT same thing

-Indian guy

-AMMYY

-Computer problems

-Work for microsoft.

I hanged up and shut down my computer just in case. (I"m paranoid)

I turned back my computer on and the guy called me again.

He asked me why did I hanged up and I told him it was an accident.

He asked if I downloaded AMMYY yet.

I told him this "I ain't getting my computer hacked today, buddy." and hanged up again.

I ran a full computer scan with Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

(Which I trust since it went with my computer)

So my question.

Who are these guys?

How many people work with them?

Why aren't they sued yet?

Is my computer safe?

You're fine. They cold called you and have no access to your PC since you didn't install anything or allow them to connect to your PC.

Avoid scams that use the Microsoft name fraudulently - Microsoft does not make unsolicited

    Nothing about these guys is legitimate. They are crooks, or worse - possibly raising money for Al Quada. The phone numbers are always meaningless. The cops in their home countries are often poor farm boys, barely literate, and likely on the take. They do not give a rat's patoot. If you "investigate", you'll be looking for the only people in the local area who can afford a flush toilet.

    I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone thinks any calls like this are legitimate, even for a second. They are one click above Internet viagra or Internet ****.

    that's whats happened to me.  I keep getting an international Call every time I go on my computer when I shut down and reboot this happens

    Tried to contact Ms IT Support via Live Chat advisor instructed me to copy link to Ms Tech Help.

    Attempted to copy link to Microsoft Office and it came up JavaScript void().  Which was not true statement Java up to date and fine but it would not let me paste link.

    Wanted to ask about Windows Defender updates as received the following caption

    The Computer then froze and took away ALL DESKTOP ICONS.  Had to reboot and start again any ideas as Windows 8.1 is my installation. very concerned as product seems to be unstable. "

    Short of going back to beginning and rebooting the whole lot (Which means I would lose certain files. I am flummoxed. Cannot load new 8.1 because it was an upgrade I downloaded from Ms site. I have old Windows 8 pro.

    Any suggestions?

    Ps cannot seem to get through to Microsoft support as the page keeps be redirected under ru9 and then it comes up with doggy Malware adverts.

    Sorry doc but that's not true they seem to have the backdoor codes for the Win32sys and the Windows 8 pro systems as they frequently seem to attack my passwords and that Malware was NOT INSTALLED BY ME. 

    I have already had to put one computer back to the repairers for a full reset once really do not want to have to do that again.  And also it seems they try to reset the "memory files" whatever that is.  So please how do we circumvent this.  Is Microsoft doing anything to combat its breach.  Or it is allowing this to force us all to buy windows 8.1 again?
