Hello
I got a call from a guy with a really heavy Indian accent claiming to be working with Microsoft.
He told me that my computer had multiple problems.
He then told me to hit the Window icon on my keyboard and R (Which is to activate Run)
After that, he told me to type in "www.ammyy.com" and hit enter.
Right when he said that, I got suspicious.
I checked their website and it seemed legit.
I decided to google "AMMYY" and I saw "AMMYY scam"
I checked lots of posts having the EXACT same thing
-Indian guy
-AMMYY
-Computer problems
-Work for microsoft.
I hanged up and shut down my computer just in case. (I"m paranoid)
I turned back my computer on and the guy called me again.
He asked me why did I hanged up and I told him it was an accident.
He asked if I downloaded AMMYY yet.
I told him this "I ain't getting my computer hacked today, buddy." and hanged up again.
I ran a full computer scan with Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.
(Which I trust since it went with my computer)
So my question.
Who are these guys?
How many people work with them?
Why aren't they sued yet?
Is my computer safe?

You're fine. They cold called you and have no access to your PC since you didn't install anything or allow them to connect to your PC.
Avoid scams that use the Microsoft name fraudulently - Microsoft does not make unsolicited
phone calls to help you fix your computer

This guy did a prank with the same guy. He had a heavy Indian Accent.

2014-06-03T22:59:53+00:00 I had a few calls this morning about these phone calls asking if they were legit or not. One person told me the same story as all the above. When she refused to pay for their services he created a system password that locked her out of the computer said she had too many viruses and she would infect the whole internet so he was shutting her down.
I was able to do a system restore on start up and it removed it so she could get logged back in.
I have never heard of a company locking a user out of a computer because somebody refused to pay or let them work on it after showing what they said was "wrong" with it.
The phone number they called from was 1-215-896-3556 and the number he gave her to call to unlock her computer was 1-214-272-0277. They used the company name of techyankee.
The form they wanted her to fill out to pay them was at https://www.etechpro.net/pay/kspay\_v3d\_bypass.html.
I wish there was a way to have these people investigated and shut down. She was very upset she fell for their scam also. No harm done to the computer from what I could tell and all scans on her system didn't show anything out of the ordinary.

(I understand that this is google but the fact that it is is irrelevant). So i did what the guy said and i believed them because i am the one who called, he had an indian accent too i should've been more suspicious but i was just scared of access to my gmail account at that point. I did what the guy said and gave him access to my computer he almost made me buy some software but i said if i wanted it i would call back. Did he steal my identity? The next day i bought Norton With Identity Theft protection just incase and my mom is making sure the credit card and bank statements are normal. Please respond fast i am really nervous about this. By the way this was like a month ago.
