Hello

I got a call from a guy with a really heavy Indian accent claiming to be working with Microsoft.

He told me that my computer had multiple problems.

He then told me to hit the Window icon on my keyboard and R (Which is to activate Run)

After that, he told me to type in "www.ammyy.com" and hit enter.

Right when he said that, I got suspicious.

I checked their website and it seemed legit.

I decided to google "AMMYY" and I saw "AMMYY scam"

I checked lots of posts having the EXACT same thing

-Indian guy

-AMMYY

-Computer problems

-Work for microsoft.

I hanged up and shut down my computer just in case. (I"m paranoid)

I turned back my computer on and the guy called me again.

He asked me why did I hanged up and I told him it was an accident.

He asked if I downloaded AMMYY yet.

I told him this "I ain't getting my computer hacked today, buddy." and hanged up again.

I ran a full computer scan with Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

(Which I trust since it went with my computer)

So my question.

Who are these guys?

How many people work with them?

Why aren't they sued yet?

Is my computer safe?

You're fine. They cold called you and have no access to your PC since you didn't install anything or allow them to connect to your PC.

Avoid scams that use the Microsoft name fraudulently - Microsoft does not make unsolicited

    These people are still at it.  Indian/Pakistani accented man claims he's from "windows" and I have a serious problem with my computer and I should get to it and he'll help. Told me to enter the following URLs: www.121USA.com. I said that didn't work and he then suggested: www. teamviewer.com. I said that didn't work and he then tried to get me to go to www.join.me.com. 

    It's an attempt to gain control of the computer. I had fun with him and kept him on the line for nearly a half hour until he got frustrated and said he'd call back.

    I'd like to add a note that it seems recently the company has an alternative website they are using to prevent you from googling "Ammyy" and having Google auto-complete automatically show that it's a scam. They are redirecting through the website usahelp.cf. However, there is still an icon to the Ammyy direct .exe download.

    Hoping to include this in case someone in the future Google searches for www.usahelp.cf that this will pop up and they can see that it's a scam.

    They've gone one better.  I now have windows 10 and found that the other day for some reason my broadband got dropped.  Several Times I tried to reboot the router but it still got stuck.  Eventually when I contacted the routers distributer it suddenly came on. So I went onto the Windows 10 Site and said I was having a problem with Windows Defender update.  I was redirected to a "Chat Room," where I explained my situation to the (What I thought was an Automated site).  That's when it got weird

    As the site asked me for my domain then my 'personal details,' which I replied if you are a genuine site this should have already came up when I logged in.

    I disconnected, since then I have had a strange telephone call stating they are Microsoft "Tech Help Line," which I immediately put the phone down on as it sounded like some bloke on a mobile walking along a street!

    Since then I have not been able to update my Windows 10 Defender and every so often a command box appears on the Desktop when I log into the internet saying I need to put my "New password in again,"  I refuse as it is all automated and I have changed everything due to the doggy "Chat Room," conversation.

    Its obvious that they are using ordinary peoples internet service to "bounce," their signals off.  This does two things.  It gives the hackers a FREE INTERNET SERVICE all over the planet and it INFECTS AS MANY PEOPLES AS POSSIBLE WITH MALWARE AND SPY SERVICES WHICH FORCES YOU INTO DEALS OR SECURITY SERVICES YOU DON'T WANT OR NEED.

    Kind of like ACCEPT US PAY US OFF OR ELSE!!!!
