Hello

I got a call from a guy with a really heavy Indian accent claiming to be working with Microsoft.

He told me that my computer had multiple problems.

He then told me to hit the Window icon on my keyboard and R (Which is to activate Run)

After that, he told me to type in "www.ammyy.com" and hit enter.

Right when he said that, I got suspicious.

I checked their website and it seemed legit.

I decided to google "AMMYY" and I saw "AMMYY scam"

I checked lots of posts having the EXACT same thing

-Indian guy

-AMMYY

-Computer problems

-Work for microsoft.

I hanged up and shut down my computer just in case. (I"m paranoid)

I turned back my computer on and the guy called me again.

He asked me why did I hanged up and I told him it was an accident.

He asked if I downloaded AMMYY yet.

I told him this "I ain't getting my computer hacked today, buddy." and hanged up again.

I ran a full computer scan with Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

(Which I trust since it went with my computer)

So my question.

Who are these guys?

How many people work with them?

Why aren't they sued yet?

Is my computer safe?

You're fine. They cold called you and have no access to your PC since you didn't install anything or allow them to connect to your PC.

Avoid scams that use the Microsoft name fraudulently - Microsoft does not make unsolicited

    Hi

    The same thing happened to me but I actually installed the software. They had control over my computer but when they said I had to pay I turned off my computer and found out that it was a scam.

    What should I do is my computer safe ?

    Just invest in a big whistle and blow it very hard down the phone at them, I suspect they are using head sets so it will take them a while to remove them.

    I have spoken to a fraud guy who said to carry on using the whistle and that he had never heard of anyone being sued for assault with a whistle either lol

    I get at sometimes 2 calls a week from these guys.

    They more often than not are Indian but occasionally you do get the odd American.

    They used to get on my nerves but this is what i do now each time they call.

    I play a game

    How long can you keep them on the phone for?

    My new record is 50 minutes and 2 seconds!!!!

    I always pretend to be computer stupid lol

    They get so frustrated with me hahahaha

    I always end the call confessing to them that i am not stupid and they have just taken part in a game for my amusement. I thank them for helping me break a new record in seeing how long i can waste their time, and i then tell them that the next time they ring i will be blowing a whistle down the phone at them!

    and to prove i will i take a deep breath and blow as hard as i can for as long as i can.

    I have reported these people in the past when there has been a number come up on my caller display. There is a phone/internet fraud on google that you to can report them to. 

    The only problem is due to them not being in the UK they are difficult to catch.

    So why dont you join me in playing the time waster game and keep them on the phone as long as you can.

    The longer they are on the phone to you the less time they have to scam someone else. and they still have to pay their phone bill hahahahahaha
