Hello

I got a call from a guy with a really heavy Indian accent claiming to be working with Microsoft.

He told me that my computer had multiple problems.

He then told me to hit the Window icon on my keyboard and R (Which is to activate Run)

After that, he told me to type in "www.ammyy.com" and hit enter.

Right when he said that, I got suspicious.

I checked their website and it seemed legit.

I decided to google "AMMYY" and I saw "AMMYY scam"

I checked lots of posts having the EXACT same thing

-Indian guy

-AMMYY

-Computer problems

-Work for microsoft.

I hanged up and shut down my computer just in case. (I"m paranoid)

I turned back my computer on and the guy called me again.

He asked me why did I hanged up and I told him it was an accident.

He asked if I downloaded AMMYY yet.

I told him this "I ain't getting my computer hacked today, buddy." and hanged up again.

I ran a full computer scan with Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

(Which I trust since it went with my computer)

So my question.

Who are these guys?

How many people work with them?

Why aren't they sued yet?

Is my computer safe?

You're fine. They cold called you and have no access to your PC since you didn't install anything or allow them to connect to your PC.

Avoid scams that use the Microsoft name fraudulently - Microsoft does not make unsolicited

    This very same thing has just happened to me! They told me to type the ammyy address into the Google box. When I did the word 'scam' appeared (thank God).

    When I had rumbled them, they gave me a kind of political statement mentioning the Indian Government, and then told me to f off.

    Since you allowed them access, consider your PC compromised. Change your passwords and run a full sca with your installed antivirus program.

    I took a call with the same formatted conversation. It ended up with them offering me 1,2.3.4 year and lifetime management of my computer for a lot of cash. 399.00 for 4 years.

    They stated I did not need additional services like anti virus or malware protection as microsoft software took care of it all. I was surprised to hear that. Not sure if it is true.

    I insisted to research Microsoft for this unheard of service they were providing. I wanted a link to lead me to them so that I could review and consider their offer. After Insisting over and over they provided me with a link. gadgetsupportusa.com. I saw the web page and immediately knew they misrepresented themselves. I am way too gullible and let them in via teamviewer. Nothing happened infront of me other than them showing me the 54,000 errors and warnings in the logs.

    I want to know if Microsoft provides the services for free or by paying to clean my computer up.

    Scam? They are providing a service but using the good name of Microsoft to get their foot in.
