This error code suddenly appears in WIndows 8 Store when trying to install or update apps....  Solutions to this have not yet been found.

There are many references to some date and time issues but they are correct on my Computer.

I did use the troubleshouter for Windows update which states that something has been corrected.

There are errors in my Event logs...

ID 36888 System Log; A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 10. The Windows SChannel error state is 10.

this is a fairly new Installation...

It's great that the 8 of us now have working APPS again; how do we inform the thousands who don't and will pay The GEEK Squad $100 to try to fix it and can't and then just give up? Man I love message boards. I think I'll go download 30 new APPS and update just to live on the edge!!

...or just buy a MAC next time.

Finally a fix that actually works! Strange that a hard reboot is the key to this working? Very strange. For those who have ARM processors (Surface 32 and 64) I ignored the fact that the wizard said it does not support ARM processors, and I simply followed the wizard to the very end. It found one or two things, then I finished with the wizard and instead of doing a "soft" reboot, I held down the power key for a while until unit turned off. When I rebooted, suddenly apps were able to be installed! Woohoo!

Thanks very much....this resolution worked like a charm. I believe the key is the hard shut down. It can be a little scary when the device restarts. In my case it stated it was scanning and repairing drive C. It went very slowly up to about 33% and sat there working for several minutes and then finally 100%. Thanks again!

Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941 and scroll down to the "Resolution" section and click on Microsoft Fix It. Once you run the scan it will tell you that you need to restart your computer. DO NOT restart it. Do a hard shut down by pressing down on your power button. This just worked for me and I hope it works for you as well. Very frustrating issue.

I just called a friend using a Lenovo Z585. She tried the above fix (very important ---Do hard shutdown). And it worked. We'll see if this fix stays. Thanks to "I aim to misbehave"
