0x80240437 Windows 8 Store error while installing apps

This error code suddenly appears in WIndows 8 Store when trying to install or update apps....  Solutions to this have not yet been found.

There are many references to some date and time issues but they are correct on my Computer.

I did use the troubleshouter for Windows update which states that something has been corrected.

There are errors in my Event logs...

ID 36888 System Log; A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 10. The Windows SChannel error state is 10.

this is a fairly new Installation...

    Did you try this?

    Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941 and scroll down to the "Resolution" section and click on Microsoft Fix It. Once you run the scan it will tell you that you need to restart your computer. DO NOT restart it. Do a hard shut down by pressing down on your power button. This just worked for me and I hope it works for you as well. Very frustrating issue.

    It fixed my windows 8 Pro.

    For my daughters windows 8 RT I just did a factory reset.

    nope still doesn't work. I was able to change the file name but after going though the rest of the steps I was still getting the same error.

    ASEFIRE - it will work for you if you reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" to rename the folder, then reboot normally to do the rest.

    There are good references on the forums on how to boot Windows 8 in "Safe Mode".

    I found this online. I wasn't able to get it working as it kept saying that one of the programs was being run but it might work for you.

    You're Software Distribution directory has corrupt or locked files. To correct this issue, there are two steps. 

    First, browse to C:\Windows Locate SoftwareDistribution and rename it to SoftwareDistribution.old 

    Windows will prompt you with "You'll need to provide administrator permission to rename this folder". Click Continue. 

    Once that has been renamed, you will now need to reset the store's cache. This is done my pressing the windows key (on the keyboard it's between the Ctrl and Alt keys) and then the R key, This will bring up the RUN command window. Type wsreset.exe in the box and press enter. You will get a full screen message from the store stating "The cache for the Store was cleared. You can now browse the Store for apps.

    Answer is to rename the folder in the C:\Windows folder called SoftwareDistribution to some other name. You will need to boot up in safe mode as files in this folder are open.

    After renaming the folder reboot normally,

    run wsreset.exe to reset the windows store cache.

    then visit the store. The SoftwareDistribution folder will be recreated automatically.
