YMMV but...

...Microsoft is aware of an issue some customers are experiencing when installing KB2670838 on certain laptop systems with hybrid graphics. We are looking into the situation and are considering blocking the update for systems that could be affected. Customers who are experiencing issues on systems that already have installed the update should consider uninstalling KB2670838.

In the near future (one assumes), Microsoft should begin offering home users (only!) no-charge support for IE10 install and uninstall issues. You also may be eligible for the support if an IE10-related issue causes your computer to crash or if IE10 does
not let you browse all sites. For now, however, you're on your own so you're best bet is to hide IE10 (*and KB2670838 IMHO*) & stick with IE9 for the time being.

You have to accept the reality that for the people working at Microsoft it hurts straight in the **** the issues raised on their forums by the consumers !

The issues highlighted are several months old but the loser pa bear does not understand, WMP does not work after i install the update + overall slowdown of the system in gaming ... so the conclusion is that forums are shaped to fool people that something happens to solve the situation ! bullshit

I had issue with this update causing a black screen in windows live mail when i had IE 9 and IE 9 would not go to web site links. Uninstalled upgrade and IE 9. Went to firefox. Later I installed IE 10 and got the KB and had the same problems. Uninstalled the KB being discussed and Live Mail works but IE 10 will not go to links on screen. I have had other problems too and they disappeared when I uninstalled this upgrade. Microsoft is causing problems with their own software, Live Mail, with this update and not fixing the problem. I prefer IE but it is not usable if i want to go to more that two links from one window.

Again, ignoring the facts, even if you're an MVP, doesn't change the facts that this thread was about INSTALLED WIN APPLICATIONS AND NOT WEB APPLICATIONS.

    ATI CATALYST

    XARA PHOTO & GRAPHICS

ACTIVTEST (.NET 2.0 Win Forms application)

All are not working after installing this KB26708380.

This did not happen when IE9, 8 OR 7 were released.   IE update or upgrade should be irrelevant anyway to other installed applications.  I think the EU settled that in a class action suit.

MS needs to take responsibility for changing the goal posts on the Win 7 platform.
