Installed this today, it caused my Poppeeper to be flagged with a -1000 error. Rolled computer back and problem cured. Have hidden update until i know what to do.

YMMV but...

...Microsoft is aware of an issue some customers are experiencing when installing KB2670838 on certain laptop systems with hybrid graphics. We are looking into the situation and are considering blocking the update for systems that could be affected. Customers who are experiencing issues on systems that already have installed the update should consider uninstalling KB2670838.

In the near future (one assumes), Microsoft should begin offering home users (only!) no-charge support for IE10 install and uninstall issues. You also may be eligible for the support if an IE10-related issue causes your computer to crash or if IE10 does
 not let you browse all sites. For now, however, you're on your own so you're best bet is to hide IE10 (*and KB2670838 IMHO*) & stick with IE9 for the time being.

    I have no problems installing this update and running IE 10.   However, I have 3 programs that simply do not work after installing this KB.    This thread was not about IE 10, but rather the wake of installed applications that is left unusable after installing IE 10 which this KB is a pre requisite.   And this is not about notebook hybrid displays or some other hardware specific configs.

    Last I heard from the IE team, they claimed telemetry reports indicated that the majority of Win7 users have successfully installed IE10 (and KB2670838).

    YMMV...

    June 2013, still many problems with this platform update and nothing from MS.   Time to change the response from "near future (one assumes)" to "sometime in 2013 (one assumes)".     Wreaking havoc on developers, sla's, testing costs, etc to deal with this MS fubar update.

    Doesn't seem to be a common thread to any of these problems, except, of course, KB2670838.  Mine made Win Media Player and Win Live Movie Maker crash when loading an avi.  Removed the update, problem solved.
