Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

I 've gathered links bellow that refer to the same problem to highlight its importance and display the number of users that are affected:

Apple's recent "invention" of biometrics (never mind that HP laptops and probably others have had fingerprint readers built-in for years now) gave me an idea:

Add a screen to a Clear Type wizard:

"If you are cross-eyed, have a cataract, are legally blind or have any other vision impairment, put your eye (one at a time) in front of a web cam, so Clear Type can be automatically tuned for you. Otherwise click Skip to turn Clear Type off"

A welcome, but extremely disappointing reply BillFill. Not only it does not address this very real issue, but actually throws it back at the user's face. It should be more than obvious by now that the Cleartype tuner is not a solution. You want to further support "lower powered devices" and "rich web scenarios"? That's great, but please do not cripple your existing "Desktop" user base that gave Microsoft its no.1 position. Especially not in such a way. Without a start menu anyone can live with (thank God for 3rd-party developers, still willing to program for Windows 8), but if you tinker with someone's eyesight (it's NOT a matter of personal taste/preference/experience), it becomes a major issue.

It's always nicer to either admit the issue and promise a solution (or declare there will be none), or fix it as quickly & quietly as possible. None has occurred.

Indeed, Microsoft's implementation of Cleartype and the Cleartype tuner is ****, it always has been.

During Windows 8 development, our engineers and researchers looked at where the industry was heading, and the important challenges we’d need to address in the future. There were several data points that needed to be addressed; lower powered devices that have trouble keeping up with modern graphics, a wide variety of display types that vary in size, orientation and pixel density, and finally a richer array of web authoring techniques that push the boundaries of web and graphics capabilities.

In order to deliver in all these areas, a new grayscale text rendering mode was added to the ClearType family. This new ClearType rendering mode gives applications the ability to enhance the performance of text especially for rich web scenarios, keeping the experience fast and fluid. In developing these new ClearType text modes, engineers and researchers improved the default tunings for these new modes, and updated a number of inbox fonts to ensure they look great in these new modes as well. Our older, color-based ClearType modes still exist for use on Windows, as you can see in a number of applications; but they work better for a different set of apps with a different set of goals around performance and the display ecosystem they run on.

With all of this said, every person experiences text differently, and with a wide variety of displays it becomes necessary to tune the text for each person and their preferences. In order to easily allow customers to tailor these new ClearType modes, Windows 8 includes an updated ClearType tuner. The changes introduced in this new version allow users to tune these text modes to work better in conjunction with their visual system, display attributes, and personal preferences. In order to run the updated ClearType tuner, press WIN+Q and type “ClearType Tuner” in the search box. Then select “settings” below it. Then select the result that says “Adjust ClearType Text.”

This is everything that is wrong with Windows and Microsoft today. You are purposely crippling features that once made Windows beautiful to accommodate your crappy low-powered devices that apparently no one wants. I just spent 1,200 on a full-HD laptop from Lenovo. I love it, but I'm not going to spend all this money for a beautiful HD screen (non touch, by the way. Yes, it was intentional) just to look at pixelated, ugly, 1999-esque font rendering. So the first thing I did was take your garbage Windows 8 off, and went through shenanigans to get Windows 7 working. As far as I'm concerned, you have no idea what or who your real customer base is. I'll go to Mac before I spend money on a product that is INTENTIONALLY making itself less-usable to accommodate LOW POWERED devices. It's 2013. I want HD. Get your act together Microsoft. And the clear type tuner doesn't do jack. If you actually read this thread, you'd know that,
