FSX Acceleration Error Code 1-80004005

Thank you very much. I have done that trick -in many ways. Funny, the PC could not start/boot after changing in the reg.base. I had to work around and reset to an earlier date. Now I have the PartMgr, as before, but still no chance to activate. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall FSX and Accelleration after I have made a change in reg.base. FSX is activated but not Accelleration. In Vista everything was OK. Thanks

I am a longtime user like yourself who encountered the exact same error after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Like you, my FlightSim install went as expected including registration. Acelleration seemed to install normally but never presented the registration popup. After loading the game, I encountered the error code 1-80004005. After researching online, I found the suggestion to change the value of Upperfilters from "0" to "partmgr" for the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. That did not work for me but I again changed that value to "PartMgr" (including upper case letters P and M) because I had heard that case mattered. I made sure that the value was saved as "PartMgr" and not "partmgr" by closing and reopening regedit. I then rebooted my computer (important) and loaded FlightSim. Up popped the Acceleration registration window and FlightSim has functioned properly ever since. Give it another try. Hope it works for you because I remember well how frustrated I felt.

Thank you for your Advice. I did what you proposed: In reg base i changed MpartMgr to 0. ( I have for month ago changed from mpartmgr)

What happened? My bloodpressure rocketed skyhigh when I tried to reboot and the display went black! What the f...? Eventually I had to turn back to win 10 date 4 march 2018. Reboot OK. Full functioning System. Bloodpressure normalized. I, silly idiot, tried once more, just to be sure. NO GO. Same procedure back. So- my FXS planes are still on the ground and I in my chair, sweating. I´m 71 years old and in risk for a heartattack. Therefore I have bought X-plane and fly around in the World with joy and exitement. But I am still interested in getting of the ground in FSX with quite good graphics, and furthermore I have spent a lot of money on addons. Wondering if a dual boot could do the trick.

I had way LESS success with a dual boot Windows 7 than I did with Windows 10. FSX (so far...) has been working perfectly in Windows 10. I never could get it to load in 7. I tried in 10 and nothing worked although it did load with no registration. Tried 7 with dual boot and never got that far. Maybe you will fare better than I did. Look at the bright side- You are getting tons of experience doing this stuff and you will come across the right combo of things and you will find success and a real sense of accomplishment. I know I did as this is something that the Geek Squad at Best Buy or some computer shop wont ever do: They will fix your PC but wont help load a program that gives you fits! At least no one in my town will... Just as well for me as I can't afford what they would have charged just to load windows 7 (twice) and do all the updates. Keep at it and it will happen. An old friend once told me "You won't learn anything about computers until you've crashed one and had to fix it." I dont think you can do irreparable damage by changing the registry for FSX. Just be sure you set a back up in place or a restore point before you do so. Windows 10 makes setting restore points and back up simple. If you "kill" it simply restore it.    Keep us posted and good luck. Who knows...You could become your towns new computer guy after all the experience you'll gain from this!

Thank you again Rick. I agree. For the time being I will do a little flying in-sted of boxing with PCproblems. On a good day I will of course give it another try. I have spent many hours up to now with that bastard.I will let you know when I'm flying FSS. Thanks.
