After using this computer for 7 months (bought it new last November) and iTunes worked perfectly well until one day it stopped displaying the device option( the one that shows what iPhone or I pad..etc you got connected) and then you can sync the devices. but this went missing and iTunes could not re-download it.

I have contacted Apple support and gone through all options to remove and re-download iTunes.. but didn't' work. Each time, after downloading most of the programme - it stops to give the following message:

iTunes: Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

Please help

OK - after reading everything and carrying out everything -- I discovered that just by right clicking and running Itunes as Admistrator the problem is resolved.

What I am curious about is why I have to run ITunes as admin in first place since I am the only one using this lap top.

BUT  over and above all that  - Thank you very much for the time you guys took to respond to this link and the helpful advice therein.

    :D

I have the same problem and your answer is as helpful as it was the first time  The original post states "I have contacted Apple support and gone through all options to remove and re-download iTunes.. but didn't' work."  I've also tried disabling all of the anti-spywayre and firewalls as suggested by other people on the interweb to no avail.
