Can't create recovery drive on this PC

I have the same problem.

Seems most people don't know and are unhelpful and Microsoft are just as bad.

i have searched the internet for the solution.no one knows and I guess by the look of it the people who reply have never replicated this problem.

To get the "required files" (Windows 8).....

1. Run an elevated command prompt
   1. Click on the start menu
   2. Type CMD
   3. Right Click and choose "Run as Administrator"
2. At the C:\Windows\System32> prompt type 

reagentc /enable

and then press enter.  Hopefully you will get the words "operation successful"

You can now successfully run RecoveryDrive.exe to make a Recovery USB.

If it still doesn't work, start researching reagentc /disable, reagentc /setosimage and reagentc /enable.  This is the tool that will help you resolve the issue.

The steps I outlined above, worked in my case.

If reagentc /enable does not work when you first try it, run reagentc /disable and then run reagentc /enable again. If you get a message along the lines of "operation successful," you're all set! Go ahead and create a recovery drive.

I've tried this several times and keep getting the same msg. can't create a recovery drive on this pc. i have tried several different usb drives and an external hard drive

Just tried to create a recovery USB drive. But I find that "We can't create a recovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing. To troubleshoot problems when your PC can't start, use your Windows installation disc or media."

Uh?

Is a fresh Windows 8 x64 (RTM) installation. Only thing that I can think of is it has UEFI and Secure Boot enabled.

Ideas?

Setting up new a new Dell computer and have not been able to Create a Recovery Drive. This is very frustrating. Any suggestions from anyone?

In Windows 8.1, I only had to open a command prompt and type:

reagentc /enable

then I could create a recovery disk.
