NTLDR:FATAL ERROR 57344 READING BOOT.INI

XP Home Edition will not boot anymore. I get the XPWindows Logo when I boot

then shuts down to a blank screen with the following Error posted at the top of

the blank screen.

Error:

NTLDR: FATAL ERROR 57344 READING BOOT.INI

Question: What is this error and how do I correct it so I can get my XP Windows back.

remember let it run, till completed, and then run again.

Thanks everyone for your excellent feedback online here.

Good Update:

The Checking File System On C: is moving along slowly

and showing progress. Currently at 9% complete and

showing progress on screen as the corrections are being

completed. When it's 100% complete, will post an update

if XP Windows can boot again.

Perhaps THIS is what you are looking for? Actually, if it were me I would convert it also. My post was not intended to rebut your suggestion, but rather to reply to your following statement. Of course the first goal is getting the computer to boot again. :-)

"I have to do some searching as to why it is saying system is Fat32, it should be ntfs."

Thanks, I had tried to find where I had read that it is not good to have FAT32, but I could not find it. However, if it has run okay so far until this point, guess there is no reason to change it. :)
