Windows Installer and Error Codes 641 & 80070641 Issues

I know not what black magick this code performs, but it solved my problem too! 

My problem also seems to have involved System Mechanic.  It (SM) had helped to solve some problems in the past, but now I don't know.

In addition to Ravinath P suggestion dated on May 21, 2012, you may also follow the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

 

I suggest you to perform the following steps to rebuild the windows installer service.

c. Click on Start.

d. Type regedit in the Start Search field and hit enter.

e. On the registry edit windows click onFile and select Import.

f. Browse to the location where reset.reg file is located and select the file.

g. Click ok at the on-screen windows once the registry is merged successfully.

h. Restart the computer and check if updates installs.

These instructions worked for me, Windows installer had disappeared from my computer. I also removed system mechanic.

I followed the instructions exactly, rebooted and everything worked okay afterwards.

I used these instructions and my computer is working normal again.  The updates finally were successful.  I was getting the same two error codes before I found your post.  Thank you so much.

Make sure you un-install System Mechanic from your computer.

This is the reason for Windows Installer service being deleted.
