Where's Chess Titans in Windows 8?

There doesn't seem to be any Microsoft games installed be default.

Hi RobbieCharles,

If you take a look in the Store, there are several Chess games available there.

You can go to your Start screen by either clicking in the bottom left hand corner or pressing the Windows key, then go to the Store app.

Once in the Store, you can then search for apps by pressing Windows key + C and click Search in the Charms bar, and search for Chess games from there.

Hope this helps!

I was suspiscious of this, and installed with due caution: scanned the install file and then the files installed afterward. No viruses or Trojans!

The games work great with the exception of Chess for Titans. The game doesn't see the driver for the touch screen, so it only works with a mouse or touch pen. It also forgets which board I loaded the last time, so keeps presenting the default look. But at least it is present. The other games work as with Win7. Thank you, whoever uploaded this, for giving us our time-wasters back!

Both Mah John and Solitaire are available, as are past classics like Minesweeper.  There's also ones that weren't in Windows 7 that came back:  Freecell, Spider, TriPeaks (missing since Windows 3.1), and many others.  They're all free in the app store so you can get the one you want.

Shawn -I believe the Topic is Chess Titans.  Freecell, Spider and Sol.exe can all be copied from an XP machine, and run fine with the cards.dll copied also.  I did this and it runs in a window on the desktop, not a huge 24" Metro App on my desktop.

After all these years I can finally afford a big monitor, and now Widows 8 offers up these horrible full screen Metro apps.

The Chess Titans solution offered up originally by Silverback no longer works.
