Cannot change account to administrator!

thank you for the very detailed explanation of how to do this. not skipping steps is very very important so I will follow this down to the detailed letter

If you have a dvd or usb for your windows, Then you can try to erase everything on your pc , i hope you have put everything ontime in your onedrive and configured it for automatic update then you can retrieve everything once you reinstalled windows.

1. So  close  pc and unpluge all your devices and out of the socket
2. Then open your computer and search for the battery from the bios. It's shape is the same as the one in a wristwatch.
3. Pull it out and wait for een hour or so.
4. After that waiting, you can reinstall the battery and close back the pc.
5. Start-up pc with nothing extra atteched , only mouse and keybord Immediatly push f2 ,        so you could enter bios.
6. Only change time and date and verified the info presented.
7. Then go the tab where you see your diskdrives with the boot order, so instead of harddrive you put cd/dvd first, but usb is also possible. It depends on wich device your originall windows set-up is posted.
8. Close bios with F10 en confirn with Y, otherwise all your changes will disappear.
9. Now the pc restarts try to interupt so you can put in your cd or usb
10. In most cases your pc will ask to push a random button to confirm booting from device in some cases you have to push a Fn button like F12 and from there you can choose your device.
11. As everything goes as should then your pc will present your windows set-up. Do not choose reinstalation/ recovery cause then it restarts window in a previous matter and thats not the purpose. So make sure that you do clean/new istallation.
12. confirm on the question to move the previous window to win/old and wait untill set-up is done.
13. After that let it restarts and wait untill windows is presented. Windows will ask all kind of questions, like acktivating, settin pasword and all of that stuff. Try to decline for all with       "ask me later"
14. If it went like i presented here than you should have acces to windows by know.
15. From here on its up to you to regain your  apps and stuff like that

Easiest and most preffered is start up a browser on your pc. Go to microsoft website. Log in your account and voila back is your own windows, cause  know you can change your acount and pasword because you have acces to email as a verrification and in most cases a cloud entree where the backup and all that stuff is. Hope you endured well?

How can you do this outside of windows 10? Windows, in all its Glory, does not recognize my well-used password. And from the outside I cannot change it to administrative account. It only gives me the option of using a local account with a password it does not want to recognize anymore

I too have the same problem. I have a Windows Account and a Local Account. Neither have administrator rights. No Administrative Account is visible anywhere. If I try to make changes, such as installing Adobe, I'm asked for a finger swipe, but when I do, it says I need to be elevated. I tried to enter "Net User administrator /active:yes" at CMD prompt, but got system error 5. No matter what I tried or where I looked, I couldn't find or set up an administrator.

The following will recover your Administrator account.

If there are no Administrator accounts on the system, you can boot to Safe Mode to access the Built-in Administrator account.

1. Press WinKey+I to display Settings.
2. Click the Power Options icon.
3. Hold down the Shift Key while you click the Restart option.
4. On the first screen, select Troubleshoot.
5. On the next screen, select Advanced Options.
6. On the next screen, select Startup Settings. Click the Restart Button.
7. Press the Number4 Key.

The computer will start in Safe Mode.

Click the Arrow Icon.

Select the Administrator account.

After Safe Mode starts, open Control Panel / User Accounts.

Select Manage another account and select the account you wish to change to an Administrator account.

Select Change Account Type.

Select the Administrator option and click the Change account type button.

Exit Control Panel and Restart the computer.

Log on with your Administrator account.

I did the things you asked. Even I tried from the "computer management" option in safe mode. but when I try to check off the 'Account is diabled" option in the local administrator account it says "Access is denied". Please send a suggestion
