Nokia Lumia 920 driver error

I wanted to download my music via the phone app since most of my music library does not appear in my phone to download from the cloud (none of my music purchased via CD appears in it), but I encountered this problem:

When I connected my Lumia 920 for the first time to my computer, it did not showed the option to install any drivers. Instead it appears as "RM 820| Nokia Lumia 920" in divices and printers. I tried Troubleshooting but it says "MTP USB device has a driver problem" . I Installed the Windows phone app but it doesnt recogniced the phoen either. Running on Windows 8, 64 bit. HELP!!!

Hello!

My problem is the same.

Lumia 920 is a new phone, the operating system on my laptop Win7 64 bit.

I tried all the solutions proposed earlier, but did not help.

still I get the following error message: RM-821 / Nokia Lumia 920 device driver is not included.

Read the comments on the subject of the problem I think the win 64-bit operating systems features. I do not understand that Microsoft's mobile OS, Microsoft does not provide drivers for why?

Here's what worked for me:

  1. Go to Microsoft Update download catalog page (link works only in IE) http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/home.a
  2. Search for 'Windows Phone WinUSB'
  3. Add the driver to cart and proceed to checkout
  4. Download the file to some directory
  5. Extract downloaded .cab file with eg. Winzip
  6. In Device manager click 'Update driver', 'Browse for sw', search for the directory you extracted the files and click Next.
  7. The "RM-821|Nokia Lumia 920" will be replaced by "Windows Phone WinUSB"

do the same for the second device and there you go."

Just a quick update. i found some advice on the Microsoft forum that suggested that i turned my phone off and on. Yeah right! i thought, but I had the windows phone app running on my mac anc connected my phone and as normal it was not recognised. Then I turned my phone off and on. On restarting the app recognised my phone :) Now i can connect anytime and sync my music etc. Hope this solution helps anyone else having this problem.

    MY PROBLEM:

    I was able to interact between my Lumia 920 and my W7 laptop and transfer files.

    • But somewhat never showed up under "safely remote hardware".
    • When I tried to update drivers, the NOKIA BOOTMGR would not be able to install the update.
    • And under "Device Manager->Other Devices", there was 2 duplicated RM820 drivers and something labeled "PCI FLASH Memory".

    They all had yellow icon with exclamation point.

    My problem is not about Zune or music players.

    SOLUTIONS TESTED:

    1) From user garym123 (who posted in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp8-wpmusic/nokia-lumia-920-driver-error/51ced12c-281b-4771-83ca-775baf859882?page=4&tm=1362992375421)):

    This is the troubleshooting steps from Microsoft.

    Windows Phone 8 is not detected by your computer

    -> Result:  useful steps to check first. But this didn't work.

    2) User SteveMcCormick60 solution:

    Turning phone off/on

    -> Result:  Didn't work for me.

    3) User longgone solution:

    "manually reinstall it"

    -> Result: Didn't work for me.

    4) Installing the Windows app for laptop.

    -> Result: I didn't try. I jsut didn't want to install an unecessary new app. 5) User HTamas solution: 

    Re-pasting the steps:

    **-> Result: HURRAH !! Worked !!**Now under the "Safely Remove Hardware...", I see "Eject Windows Phone Lumia 920"

    Hope this helps the future users.

    I still have under "Device Manager->Other Devices", the "PCI FLASH Memory" driver with exclamation point and yellow icone.

     Would appreciate any solution for that one :).
