Security Updates for KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, KB2656352 try to reinstall repeatedly

Original Title**: Automatic updates for Security Updates for...  ...KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, KB2656352  ...KEEP REPEATING AFTER SUCCESSFUL INSTALL**

My system information:  Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

I recently have had Automatic Updates appear for Security Updates for Microsoft .NET Framework...  ...KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880 and KB2656352.

I click install updates and I watch them install successfully.  And then they come right back wanting to install again and again and again.  UGH!!

I have read many forums and attempted many fixes, (even the Microsoft Mr. Fixit).  I am not too technical and refuse to attempt some of the fixes that had me going and making changes to the registry without knowing exactly what I am doing.  I know that making one small mistake in the registry can mess up my enitre system.

I need a simple solution to this annoying problem.  Please put the solution in laymen terms for the technically challenged.

As of 10 a.m pacific you shouldn't be getting these updates offered up anymore.

    must have fixed it,i went on windows update and it says no updates available and the 'yellow shield' has gone yippee

    Yeah folks,

    I did it the hard way I guess. As I said earlier I uninstalled all NETs. The KB963707 NET Framework 3.5 SP1 would not remove with Add/Remove and dotnetfx-cleanup-tool. So I took a chance and started with a fresh install of the whole NET 3.5 which gave me 2.0, 3.0 & 3.5.  MS Update hit me with NET 3.5 SP1 update and I chose to go back and pick up NET 1.1 optionally since I run old games and other older software on my XP Pro SP3 machine.  I'm at about 10 hours start to finish while occasionally doing things at my home/office computer.  I did choose NET 4.0 after all the 1.1 through 3.5 updates and ended up with more updates following the Critical line once I did the NET 1.1 .   My system doesn't have the 3 repeat updates but it looks like Jack & folks found a quicker solution just doing the newest NET 4 updates.

    Thanks for sharing the information and it taught / refreshed me on the uninstall / re-install / update process.

    Well an update. MicroCrap must have done something to resolve/fix it. I went in to try one of y'all's suggestions, but was going to have to UN-HIDE them first. Well they are no longer hidden, not there, PULLED/GONE. Way to go MicroCrap>>Make sure things are done correctly next time BEFORE releasing YOUR CRAPPY software!!!!!
