Hi EricHalliwell,

Welcome to the Windows 8 Community!

From your issue description I understand that after installing Windows 8 App store can’t connect to internet. I do understand the inconvenience caused to you. Do not worry; I am here to help you.

I would suggest you to check the Windows Firewall Settings and check if it helps.

a)      Type in Control Panel on the Start Page.

b)      On the left side, click Control Panel.

c)      Click on Windows Firewall.

d)      On the left pane, click on "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall".

e)      Under the Allowed apps and features, look for Store.

f)       Make sure you have a click in Private and or Public.

Then see if you can open the Windows Store.

If you have a 3rd party Firewall, you may need to change the settings to allow the app thru the Firewall.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you are done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Same problem here. Did an upgrade from Win7 to Win8 that failed after a few days - wouldn't boot. Did a Refresh and the PC works except that I can't connect to the internet from any Start screen app. Desktop connectivity is just fine. It is weird but the network center thinks that I'm not connected to any network yet shows I'm on a public/guest network. I want to set it to Private but **** if I can find any way in Windows 8 to change the network from guest/public to private.

    Hi Anoop,

i have the same problem as the one described above. But Windows firewall isn't causing it. I've tried your solution and checked permissions for the "Store". How can I find out what else is blocking internet access to Windows App store, Skydrive, Maps and other Windows programs?

Having the same exact problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. the  Windows App store was the main reason I upgraded from vista.

The problem started in the morning, all steps of time, firewall, refresh and reset and clean reinstall and also new user account has not helped. Please Check and reply with a solution
