Windows 8. App Store can't connect to the Internet, but Internet Explorer works fine from the Desktop. Network Troubleshooter can't find any problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Windows 8 Community!

From your issue description I understand that after installing Windows 8 App store can’t connect to internet. I do understand the inconvenience caused to you. Do not worry; I am here to help you.

I would suggest you to check the Windows Firewall Settings and check if it helps.

a)      Type in Control Panel on the Start Page.

b)      On the left side, click Control Panel.

c)      Click on Windows Firewall.

d)      On the left pane, click on "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall".

e)      Under the Allowed apps and features, look for Store.

f)       Make sure you have a click in Private and or Public.

Then see if you can open the Windows Store.

If you have a 3rd party Firewall, you may need to change the settings to allow the app thru the Firewall.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you are done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Hi Anoop with out doing any type of process the net was connected to the apps (PEOPLE & MESSAGING) & then apps like maps,store,weather etc some other apps are not connected to the internet

    You had told the one type of process but it was not helpfull to me 

    Is there any another process for me to do some thing better then now

    I was having the same problem until i got to know about an application called Fiddler.

    It has settings that can change the usual win 8 behavior of avoiding an app from making  Loopback connections. you just have to exempt any app you need to connect with the internet and let Fiddler run in the background.

    This worked for me:

    I unchecked “Use a proxy server for your LAN” (see link below). I am not very computer savvy, but this worked. Anyone know what proxy servers are all about? Do I need I need a proxy server for LAN?

    Yay, it works! I had issues with Store and a few other apps in Metro, but I *sort of* did this to fix the problem. 

    I'm not really sure that the steps and screenshots in the helpdeskgeek.com post are totally relevant anymore, but they put me on the right track. So I went to PC Settings > Network > Proxy. Here, I had "Automatically detect settings" off and "Use automatic configuration script" on. I turned the latter off and presto!  Unfortunately, like RSteven, I have no idea what that does or why it worked, so take caution.

    My computer was brand new and wouldn't connect to any of the Windows 8 Apps but would connect to the internet.  After two weeks of frustration, Microsoft support figured out the problem, which was a simple one. 

    Problem:  Under Internet Options --> Connections Tab --> Lan Settings, the box for "Use a proxy server for your LAN" was checked. 

    Solution:  unchecking the proxy server box --> checking the box above "Automatically detect settings" --> clicking OK --> Apply --> clicking OK again

    Hope this simple solution helps resolve possible weeks of frustration.
