How do I resolve error 651 on a new Windows 8 installation?

I installed Windows 8 Pro on a Zotac Zbox AD03 3 days ago. The installation went fine and everything, including the network and internet, worked just fine. The network contains 4 Windows 7 machines, a network printer, a Buffalo NAS, a Windows Home Server, a 16 port switch and a Motorola combo cable modem (DOCSIS 3.0) and router. The new computer with Windows 8 could see everything and appeared to function perfectly with normal internet access. After powering it off for the night I restarted it the next morning and found it could only see the Windows Home Server and one of the Windows 7 machines. It reported that it was not attached to a network and when I tried to connect I got error 651. I did a complete new install and it still could only see the Windows Home Server and the same other Windows 7 machine and still get the error 651 message. What could have happened during that power down/restart to cause it to lose network connectivity? How do I fix it?

    I have had this problem on a brand new Lenovo z585 ideapad from the moment it came out of the box it does connect occasionally but only 1 out of 5 times.

    I have a usb wireless adaptor which when plugged in is an instant connection. so for me the problem lies in the communication internally between the network card and the windows system which the usb drive doesn't use.

    To understand the issue, let us start with couple of questions:

    1.       What is the exact and complete error message?

    2.       When exactly do you receive this error message?

    3.       Have you made any changes on your computer prior to the issue?

    4.       Do you have any third party security software installed on your computer?

    I would suggest you to reply with more information regarding the issue to provide you better solution.

    A clarification to my previous post, this Error 651 occurs on WIFI connections, not wired.

    This issue with inability to connect to the Internet via LAN, resulting in Error 651, seems to have only just occurred for me after Windows Update posted 1/22.  However, uninstalling those updates did not resolve the issue.  Still upable to connect to the Internet via that Windows 8, brand new HP machine.  Please find a resolution - quickly!
