How to install vcdrom.exe and the sys file.

i installed vcdrom.exe and copied vcdrom.sys to windows/system32/drivers like instructed, but when i try to select vcdrom.sys in the install driver list it's not even visible. but when i go to said location ouside the program i find it no problem, i tried running the program as admin, i tried setting the sys file to full control and it makes no difference. what should i do?

There is actually an updated version that's supposed to work with Win7

Right-clicking the vcdcontrolTool.exe file and choosing Run as administrator eliminates the "Cannot Open SCM: Access is denied" message, but VCdRom.sys is still not visible in %windir%\system32.

Apparently it's just not compatible with x64 versions... even if you run it elevated and try to load the copy of the driver file left in the unzip subdir (which is found with no problem), the message "Driver has been blocked from loading." results. Possibly whatever MVP re/wrote it either forgot about kernel mode code signing or doesn't want to pay the ($400?) annual fee to MS for signing x64 drivers.

    as this cannot work on 64bits win7, it's useless.

    I've never successfully been able to run the most recent version of this tool under Windows 7, 64-bit.

    Instead, you can use 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) for many flavors of Windows, 32-bit or 64-bit,  to extract the ISO content. It's free, and I'm currently using version 9.2 on Windows 7, 64-bit.

    After installing 7-zip, just open the .ISO using 7-zip, and extract the content. You can also use context menus once you've installed 7-zip (e.g., right-click on the file, the choose an action).

    Hi,

    1.       Which program are you trying to install?

    2.       Do you get any error code or error message?

    It seems to be an issue with the setup file of the program that you are trying to install. It would be better to contact the manufacturer of the program for further assistance.
