How to install vcdrom.exe and the sys file.

This is such a typical MS reply...  "Go open another thread, so we can start the delay and ignoring you from the beginning".   *PUNT*

It is really VERY SIMPLE.  And described as the problem IN THE SUBJECT LINE.

The "vcdrom.sys" cannot be installed into a Windows 7 64 bit system.

It's a  MS product trying to install on a MS product!  DUH!

As Darr247 says, apparently the driver is not signed, so it can't be installed.  Isn't that simple enough to determine??

You don't need the make/model of EVERY COMPUTER form EVERY ONE on this thread who can't install it.  Apparently the hardware is NOT a common denominator.

The failure of a 64 bit Windows 7 OS to load this driver is the common denominator.

If you are not going to solve the problem, just say so.  Maybe just once!

(I have never gotten acceptable support on this forum. On any one of half a dozen applications. MS won't solve any problem, admit there is any problem, and they always punt it into other threads.)

Good to know i'm not alone with this problem.....but really bad to know its been a problem for so long and it seems no one intends to fix this.

I'm trying magic disc. Seems to be working ok as an alternative

Just note: clicking the magicdisc.exe will not launch an interface. Once you install it and run it, check your tray for the icon and right click to get it going. 

No, you aren't alone with this.  But thanks for the recommendation.  I worked around the problem with a different product as well, by running a Linux VM and mapping a drive to it from Windows. Long way around but did the trick.  Lets hear it for non-MS solutions!

Sometimes I wonder what this forum is for...  I have exactly 0.00000% success getting problems resolved. By the time I post here, it is not a 'I dont understand', it's 'Here is a bug' . The replies I get have included 'Can't Duplicate', 'Wrong Product', and just complete silence.  The best one was when I tried to select the software product, I was told 'That isn't X, you need to post it in Y'... when I did, I got 'That isn't Y, you need to go ask in X' .

It's us non-MS people who are actually helpful with work-arounds.  MS claims their people are in these forums, and that they are here to help and fix things.  But they are useless.

It's a really easy way to avoid fixing things.

Of course, the problem is solved in WIndows 8 where virtual CD support is part of the base OS and it works in a 64 bit system.

All of the Me Too people on the problem statement have the exact same issue, the driver for Windows 7 only works in 32 bit systems. I agree that asking for a new thread will not help those of us following this thread and hoping that perhaps Microsoft will fix this problem.
