Original Title: All of a sudden internet backgammon not working

Just your basic Windows 7 Laptop. Everything was working fine. Started playing internet backgammon....won EVERY game yeah! Took a break for an hour or so...came back and now have message telling me there is a problem connecting to the internet game server.  Anybody know what is wrong??  What it specifically says is "A Network error occurred while communicating with the game server." What the heck does that mean?

Hi,

1.     Which browser are you using?

2.     Are you facing same issue with any other games like internet spades?

I would suggest you to follow these methods and check.

Method 1: **** You may check if the issue appears in a clean boot state.

Refer this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the issue gets resolved, check which non-Microsoft service is causing the problem; referring to the article and following other steps.

**Note:**After you check the functionality in clean boot configure Windows to use Normal startup using the step 7 suggested in the link mentioned above.

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software and check if the game works fine.

Refer this link: Disable antivirus software

**When you disable Antivirus:**Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: If the above step fails, temporarily disable Windows firewall and check if the game works fine.

Refer this link: Turn Windows Firewall on or off

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

Note: After checking the functionality turn on Windows Firewall.

Hope this helps!

You are such a despicable human being!  You probably voted for Trump; I'm sure of it.

I did provide context for Ove, saying something about your being negative like him.  And who the hell are you to say I don't have a Masters (not the BA magna cum laude degree, which I got elsewhere) from Harvard?!  Why would I make that up???  About grammar, not only do I have that BA, I am also a published poet and short story writer!  I've been a professional copy editor and proofreader.  Pray tell what poor grammar do you think I displayed??  You're probably the poor grammarian, simply projecting that onto me!

BTW, my Masters (with honors) from Harvard was in COUNSELING!!  I am a professional counselor, and I can diagnose at a distance that you are a seriously disturbed person, probably with a personality disorder like Borderline.  Just like our Fake President, whom you voted for.  So, Topo the Magic Moose, get a life and then go directly to hell.

As I said, I know less about technology than just about anyone else.  Have you ever used two different browsers on one computer?  When I complain about things going wrong, my tech told me sometimes they conflict with each other.  I have no reason not to believe him.  And I don't appreciate your saying it's the dumbest thing you've ever heard as you sit at a computer.  That's rude.

re: Browser.  I am the last person in the world who is qualified to talk technology.  But I think there may be a point about 'what browser' someone is using.  When the threat of a red something virus was announced, millions of people switched from Internet Explorer to Google Chrome.  I noticed conflicts on all functions and apps immediately and they continue to this day.  I don't believe they (IE and GC) are compatible and can cause (what appear to be unrelated) hiccups in many functions - regardless that MSFT Internet backgammon doesn't require a browser.

This happens FREQUENTLY.  I've run the gamut, tried all of the 'fixes' but it continues to happen all too often.  I'm guessing it has more to do with Microsoft game server than someone's individual computer or laptop.  Example - I haven't been able to play internet backgammon for 3 days.
