"COM Surrogate has stopped working"

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it.  Whenever I go to print from the internet, the message "COM Surrogate has stopped working" comes up.  It only happens when I try to print.  Any help on this?

This message only comes up when I am trying to print from the internet.  I can print from all my other programs.  I have not seen this message anywhere else yet.  Also, I noticed that all the answers I could find refer to Vista....I am Windows 7.  Thank you

Hi,

1)   Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

2)   What kind of browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, chrome etc…)?

3)   What is the make and model of the printer?

Follow the below mentioned steps which may help you in fixing the issue.

a)    Click Start

b)   Right click on Computer, and select Properties.

c)    Click on Advanced System Settings, click the Advanced Tab

d)   In the Performance section, click Settings

e)    Select the "Data Execution Protection" tab, and then click the 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select' option.

**f)**Click the Add button, and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe

g)   Click open, click OK on the warning message.

**h)**Click Apply/OK.

Check if the issue still persists.

Hi,

I was able to resolve the issue by rolling back to the previous Intel display driver. Not an optimal solution, but it resolves the annoying "COM Surrogate" error until Intel can fix the bug in their driver. Hope this helps.

    Update; the next day the com surrogate problem came back. Seems hp fixed it only partially, temporarily.I let them talk me into buying another years insurance if they could fix the problem.

    Called hp next day and new tech (from India) talked to me, could not understand the problem, nervous,  yelling at me, then he wet into a acrobat setting and broke acrobat! I was upset, he brought in his supervisor and they both yelling saying it my problem, its acrobat.

    They broke it. I did system restopre to undo their settings and fixed acrobat. Com surrogate still causing a problem.

    Took out a old windows 7 memory card (which works ok in 7) and now 'maybe' comm surrogate is gone.

    Going back to windoews 8 with system recovery to get all hps tech alteratiosn out of computer.

    Asking for money back. Why pay for insurance if the techs can never fix a computer and they break it.

    Bought a pavilion at Walmart last year and broken fomr day one. Sent to hp 3 times. They could not fix, do not refund money.

    I have had it, this has brought my work to a full stop last 3 days.

    Saving up to buy Apple.

    I had this problem for about a month. Crashing everything; word, acrobat, my docs...

    A lady at hp fixed it today; ask for Sheetal!

    She removed a few weird things, changed some settings and cleaned up 3GB of old unnecessary files, temps...

    So far it's working! And computer is fast!
