I am trying to install a Brother MFC-J430w wireless printer on my 32 bit Dell PC. I've downloaded the driver off the Internet, but I get a prompt saying "Unable to install printer. The print processor does not exist." What should I do?

Can you check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Print Processors\winprint

At that registry key, in the right window, is "Driver" of the type REG_SZ and is the "Data"  winprint.dll?

Also, check that the winprint.dll exists in the C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86 folder.

More info in the following article which is for Windows NT but, in general, should also apply to Windows 7:

Yes, you could try changing localspl.dll to winprint.dll

Create a System Restore point beforehand and restart the computer afterward.

When you say '*a new version of the driver from the manufacturer (if available), or choose an alternate driver that works with this print device'*do you mean the printer? I don't have any physical printer, use pdf creators (Adobe, Nitro, Wondershare). Should I, can I do anything about this, if so what?

As to the winprint.dll, no way to get and place a new file apart form  installing the hotfix?

At this point there are a couple of things you could consider.

Since the winprint.dll appears to be corrupted you could request the hotfix described in KB2913877 which if installed would give you a Windows 8 compatible winprint.dll albeit with a fix you probably don't need.

Alternatively you could run the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthcommand from an elevated command prompt to potentially fix component store corruption, there is info in the following link:

The registry key under Data says localspl.dll

would it have to be changed?
