In Windows 7, the Bubbles screen saver created bubbles that moved over the top of whatever was on my screen at the time.
In Windows 8, if I go to the screen saver settings and preview the Bubbles screensaver, it shows the same behavior – bubbles moving over the top of my existing desktop.
But when the Bubbles screensaver actually activates in Windows 8, the bubbles only appear over a background color which I selected.
Is there something wrong with my settings or video drivers?

A design change was made in Windows 8 that prevents screensavers from drawing over an image of the desktop. Any screensaver that previously drew over the desktop, such as Bubbles, will instead draw over a black background. The screensaver preview is incorrectly showing Windows 7 behavior.

Yes, .exe files will still work fine I'm assuming. Let us know, OK? Thanks for replying! =)
PS - It's a shame that we have to hack the newer versions of Windows just to get stuff that used to be basic, isn't it.
No you done a great job! I have windows 10 and this worked for the bubbles ,now I'm going to try it for my other ones, but they are not scr files their exe files.
I have windows 10 and I also have the bubble screensaver and it is doing the same thing that all these other people are saying . I also have the flame screensaver and it also does the same thing so its not just the bubbles. I want it back to the way it was before . If someone know s how please tell me!!!!

If you'll follow my tutorial (on previous page, with pictures) you'll have the screensaver(s) you want restored with the ability to see your desktop behind them, as in Windows 7. Also, max optimus has listed a tutorial (on the previous page after my post) where he says that he achieves the Windows 7-like function of screensavers via a different method than mine. I haven't actually tested max's way of doing it (although I have no reason to doubt that his method works), but I have been doing it per my instructions for as long as Windows 8+ and 10 have been out and it works 100% perfectly without a single flaw. Try it and I think you'll be satisfied. Or try max's, whichever seems easier for you. And please don't forget to post in reply here your results....and maybe hit the 'Helpful' button for whichever method you prefer, OK? If you run into any issues with my method, just gimme a yell here. =)
