There have been reported issues with users who user Intel rapid storage drivers, causing issues with windows update, mostly on x64 machines. If you are using them, try updating the driver is Device Manager, or alternatively, temporarily uninstalling
the drivers, update windows, then reinstall the intel driver.
Thanks a lot! This one really had me going for hours. I have Windows 7 pro x64 and first the indexing service wasn't working, then windows update services was running but not doing anything, my RAID issued random errors and would break the RAID here and there.
Downloaded several Microsoft Fix It solutions, re-imaged the drive from a recent image copy (so not terrible), looked at various registry entries, tried installing windows defender, etc., but nothing worked.
The solution was as simple as you said, just updated the Intel Rapid Storage drivers from Intel's support website, and everything is back and working just great. Thanks you!
