ntldr missing error message Windows xp home

Hey,

I turned my pc off the other night closed as normal but now I am getting the NTLDR missing error message, I do not have the Windows dics as it is a 6 year old pc.  The computer is a Pachard Bell but I have upgraded the system and I dont think it has any of their parts left, I have norton running on the system, any ideas how to fix this? I have looked at a lot of help pages but all of them talk about the windows cd, is it a major problem if I do not have this?

Any help would be great.

    That link worked and I created the disc, I have run the recovery console and did both the fixes you confirmed on page one, when I restarted the computer it is still showing the NTLDR missing error message.

    Click http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-hardware/ntldr-missing-error-message-windows-xp-home/0df66291-8597-4c14-b51d-61e79b62de35?page=3&tm=1334784516874HERE. Download the file and burn the iso file to a disc using ImgBurn the same way you created the Recovery Console disc.

    Once you have completed the above boot from the disc and enter Recovery Console. Follow the instructions I previously posted to run fixboot and fixmbr on page 1 of this thread.

    I have set sata controllers to run in Pata mode, found an old IDE cd drive and I am still getting the PCI.sys bsod

    I think I found your manual:

    It looks like you have an Award BIOS, which you can access by pressing the Delete key immediately after turning on the PC (tap it several times to make sure).

    See p. 50 to disable SATA.

    Based on the motherboard you listed previously you have an Intel chipset which means you need the Intel Rapid storage driver. Does the computer have a floppy disk drive?
