Nokia Lumia 610 - can't connect to wifi

My [Lumia 610] came with Win. 8.1.

Mhm. Something is wrong here. A Lumia 610 has Windows Phone 7.8 as maximum. Either the model name is wrong or the OS version is wrong. Anyway, I recommend to try a Wi-Fi among one of your acquaintances. Hotel Wi-Fis are not a good reference Wi-Fi because too many are managed too badly – except you had a reference device which worked at the same time. Anyway, did you already restart your Wi-Fi router by removing the power for a short time?

I've been having this issue for about a month, and it hit me out of the blue. I've had no phone updates, no wifi changes, and no other changes that I can think of that should have triggered this problem.

To clarify, I have a Nokia 610 that I've owned for about 4 months now. This problem only started existing in the last month or so. Eventually, I just turned off the phone's wifi to save battery. When I do attempt to try to connect to a network, my phone either tells me, "Cannot connect to Network", or "Internet not available for this network, still connect?". The times I agree to connect to the network anyway, the phone tells me I'm connected, but the internet is still inaccessible. The only two networks I've been able to try are home and at a hotel when we traveled recently. My phone wouldn't connect to either, but it will still use data, so I'm not completely internet-less.

I've tried restarting the phone, checking for software updates, pulling the battery out and restarting again, deleting the network on my phone and trying to reconnect to it as I've seen suggested, and otherwise messing with everything BUT the router since I'm afraid mucking with the settings would mess connectivity for the rest of the computers in the house. I WILL say that we have a Win 8.1 laptop in the house that's also finicky about connecting to the home network, but changing routers fixes that. I've yet to try and see if hooking up the other router along with the expensive LinkSys one we're using will solve the problem with my phone like it does with the finicky laptop. Every other device in the house (two windows 7 desktops, Wii, PS3/PS4, Win. 8.1 Nextbook transformer tablet, Android phones, etc.) connect just fine, and my phone did as well until this seemingly unprovoked problem.

My phone came with Win. 8.1, so I'm loathe to do a factory reset and loose my settings and such, when I've not seen anything that says a reset will fix the problem... but I will if I have to.

Maurice, do you use a Lumia 610 as well?

Are you using your own Personal Wi-Fi? If yes, which Wi-Fi access point are you using (brand and model)?

Me too shows wifi symbol when i go to search it says phone unable to connect why?

Had the same issue July 2015. No updates pending and just would not connect to router wifi even though it was available. Only thing I found that works is.......to turn it off for a minute and turn it back on again. Did this and  had to put password in for router again and it worked straight away.
