cannot forward emails with photos

Just wanted to be included in this stream since I cannot forward emails period no matter what is in it or whenever I received it.  This started a couple days ago so I would think that it is a Microsoft update that has caused it since I have not made any other changes to my computer.

Pity. This was a message sent from or through AOL, wasn't it? I don't know anyone with an AOL account, so I haven't been able to test for myself.

Just for the record: IE11 is now at 11.0.19 since this week's Cumulative Security Update KB3049563. You're still stuck in March's version ...

FYI - Just for the heck of it, and just to be sure, just now I once more did the hoge.reg thing.

I then once more forwarded the email I have been saving since April 2013 to myself.

Again I got the message “One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. . . . . “ 

Strangely WindowsLive Mail had to shut down and restart.

And once again I received the forwarded message with the pictures shown as thumbnails across the top, not in the body as I had hoped they would still be.

So, in my case, nothing has changed, but otherwise I still use WindowsLive Mail as I honestly do like it except for this one item.

Now, every day, I am following the Windows 10 saga, and crossing my fingers that the included email program will be at least as good as WindowsLive Mail.  But I am not holding my breath.

We are now in 2015 and the issue is still the same.

It's really sad that while there are millions, perhaps tens of millions, of people around the world using this program, Microsoft has decided not to develop it further. This means there is no product team to maintain and update the program even when exterior changes demand it.

Another equally shameful fact is that the support staff are not trained to conduct troubleshooting, so no-one really knows why this problem affects so many users.

However, over the years, it has appeared more and more likely that the fault is arising because of changes in HTTP implementation in Internet Explorer. Windows Live Mail makes use of IE libraries for much of its functionality, including display and print. When the program was introduced, the latest and best version of Internet Explorer was IE7, so that is more-or-less hard coded into the program. So much has changed since then that it's not inconceivable that if a particular application uses certain modern HTML features, Windows Live Mail in IE7 mode won't be able to cope with them.

One particular problem can certainly be solved by configuring Windows Live Mail to use IE11 emulation instead of IE7 - the failure to copy and paste hyperlinked text into message compose windows. I have reason to believe, but no proof, that the same remedy would correct the fault where Windows Live Mail claims on forward not to be able to find embedded images in messages that have at some stage passed through an AOL server.

Here, then, is a challenge to users facing the problem to which this thread is dedicated and who are using Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7 64-bit (it may also apply to Windows 8.1 64-bit, but I have no experience to back that up). Here is a little text file:

Copy the text into a blank Notepad document, then Save as | All files and file name hoge.reg in honour of the Japanese user who suggested it. Once saved, double-click on the file to merge it into the registry. This will cause Window Live Mail to use Internet Explorer 11 settings, which might mitigate the fault seen with AOL messages. It won't hurt otherwise, except that a message compose window may appear to be the width of a scroll bar too narrow.

We are now in 2015 and the issue is still the same. I have seen numerous forums on it and Microsoft continues to act like they don't understand the problem. I am another former Microsoft fan as this issue has frustrated me for far too long. You would think someone as large as them would have the wherewithal to offer a solution rather than appear so ignorant, when we all know they know there's a huge problem.

For shame, Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
