Java is not working on my computer. It is new computer with windows 8 and internet explorer 10. I downloaded Java and using explorer from desktop.
But every time I go on line and website requires Java I get same error message "ClassNotFoundExeption". Same error I get if I go to Java website and hit Test Java button. I tried different things that were suggested on Java.com and Microsoft.com but nothing worked. I have newest Java and did not have any problems downloading it. I appreciate any suggestions.

Was the original issue ever resolved? I still can't get Java to work and I've tried all of the above except setting up a new user account which didn't make sense. Using Windows 8 - 64 bit, Java 32 bit and I've installed and uninstalled multiple times on the desktop. The site I'm accessing works fine on my Windows 7 laptop and I have all the same settings in Java on both laptops.
When browsing in the Win8 App IE you can click on the Tool icon in the bottom right corner and select View on Desktop.

Your rant on the security issues of IE and Java do not address the issue that people have sites that we enjoy that require the Java VM, such as Pogo.com or Gamesville.com.
We would like to continue to enjoy these sites.
The fact that IE10 suddenly requires that it must be run as administrator in order for Java to run, when IE9 never had that requirement makes no sense. I say "suddenly" because one morning I could run Java based games and in the afternoon I could not.
Is IE10 less secure than IE9? Why does the Chrome browser not require admin rights to run Java?
Does Microsoft no longer trust Oracle to create a secure application? If so why do they allow the Java plugin to be enabled at all.
As Java is used on enterprise level applications (ie, Oracle database), why does IE10 need to be run as administrator when that would open more security holes than running without them.
You do not give any alternative (except maybe using another browser) and Microsoft seems to not care
Hi, thanks for your reply. Can you explain a little more why JAVA is bad to run while IE10 is run as administrator? What is the difference between running it as administrator and just running it regular?
I can view the cameras I need to view with Firefox and it works just fine. I would do that but I like the way IE is set up better. Why does't running it as administrator a security risk? My web site works with Java so I need to use it there as well. I would appreciate any help you can give.
Running IE with admin rights WHILE the Java plugin is activated!?
This is literally the worst thing you can do to your PC right now short of physically smashing it with a hammer. Java is too much of a security issue to run in the browser. Unless your livelihood depends on viewing those weather cameras, disable the plugin ASAP.
