Java is not working on my computer. It is new computer with windows 8 and internet explorer 10. I downloaded Java and using explorer from desktop.
But every time I go on line and website requires Java I get same error message "ClassNotFoundExeption". Same error I get if I go to Java website and hit Test Java button. I tried different things that were suggested on Java.com and Microsoft.com but nothing worked. I have newest Java and did not have any problems downloading it. I appreciate any suggestions.

Was the original issue ever resolved? I still can't get Java to work and I've tried all of the above except setting up a new user account which didn't make sense. Using Windows 8 - 64 bit, Java 32 bit and I've installed and uninstalled multiple times on the desktop. The site I'm accessing works fine on my Windows 7 laptop and I have all the same settings in Java on both laptops.
When browsing in the Win8 App IE you can click on the Tool icon in the bottom right corner and select View on Desktop.

I was having issues with java. It was enabled & updated in all aspects and still wouldn't detect java. I tried the above (disabling, going to java supported app, enabling again.) As easy as this sounds it did work! Thanks so much for the advise!
When I got my new tower in July of this year it came with Window's 8/IE10. I had downloaded Java in Desktop mode, it worked great until Thursday, Oct. 17th, 2013 when I did that darn Java 7 update 45 download. It does not work at all when I try to play Yahoo Games, specifically Literati. I've tried everything. I don't see any solutions here at all and then I was shocked to see they have already pulled that Windows 8.1 free download for issues. This is a mess. I am going to go find the Java version I had and install that older version and see what happens.
And by the way, if any of you have had any Flash player issues? DON'T DO THE FLASHPLAYER UPDATES THAT COME THRU IN WINDOW'S UPDATES BECAUSE THEY TOO WILL MESS UP YOUR PC IF YOU HAVE WINDOW'S 8/IE 10. I did one update for Flash thru Windows Updates and un-installed it to get my Flash back to working normal again. Every update for Flash Player in Windows 8 is a mess. Don't install them. If you've had Flash issues (game lag, game malfunctions on sites you may play on) go to the updates you've done and take out the Flash Player updates, restart your PC and your Flash should be fine again.

I was in the same problem and at last I was able to solve it. I have on an external disk, periodically backups of the full system and as I remenred that the java works well a few weeks ago, I restore the system to one I have in middle june. It runs and when finished the java was there and working well with the advice to update it to version 7.40. I done that and java still working well.
