In Chrome 37.x go to chrome://flags and disable DirectWrite. That's the first thing i did with this update.

I did a clean install of Windows 8 RTM when it became available.
The blurry font rendering that plagued the Preview versions has remained.
It is particularly bad in IE10 and Office 2013.
No amount of adjustment with Clear Type tuner helps much.
I have tried all the fixes recommended like ticking "use Software rendering instead of GPU rendering" in IE10 and in Options in Office 2013.
It makes absolutely no difference.
I installed Windows 8 on completely different hardware to check if it was a graphics card issue. The poor font rendering was still there.
I am currently dual booting Windows 7 and 8 on the same PC. Fonts in Windows 7 remain perfectly clear. In windows 8 they are so bad, the OS is basically unusable.
How do I get readable fonts in Windows 8?
Hardware: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO, Intel Core i7 3770K, ASUS Radeon HD7770 graphics, Samsung Syncmaster 2443BW 24 inch monitor.

2012-11-05T16:26:26+00:00 I had the same problem, with my Start Menu being blurry. Everything else seem to be in fine working order on the computer. I have a NVIDIA Graphics card, GTX 560 TI, and I noticed that when I played with any of the setting in the NVIDIA control panel under global settings, It would cause the screen to appear black in areas of apps, and cause the blurry text. I reset all my graphics settings back to Default and it seems to be fixing the problem.

2012-11-02T20:27:48+00:00 Was experiencing same problem in Windows 7 (only IE9). Same problem remains in W8 PRO (blurry fonts not also in IE10, but in Office 2013 too). Video Card is Nvidia NVS 4200M, native resolution 1600:900). All drivers are up-to-date. Resolution decrease is not a solution (rendering is much worse). Fonts in windows 8 pro itself are perfectly clear. In IE10, 'software rendering option' does not help. Chrome and Firefox display pages OK.
Microsoft, please fix this, or introduce the option to IE to disable such 'rendering' at all. I do like your browser IE10, but the problem with fonts rendering makes me use chrome/ firefox instead.

I tried many nvidia settings but nothing change.
System specs:
Sony Vaio VPCCW2S8E
Windows 8 Pro
Nvidia GT 320M with latest Nvidia Driver (306.97)

Please let me know if there is a good fix for the issue. Otherwise I downgrade to Win7. Tired of the depressing gray colors of the Office 2013 apps anyway.
